If you walk into The Royal Cuckoo and are not an instant fan of The Royal Cuckoo then maybe think about what’s going on with you - are you okay? is everything okay? - and then maybe sit down and have a beer anyway. Quirky bars with year-round string lights are the best kinds of bars, and this one has an organ and/or vinyl records playing on top of it.
A charming local dive, dimly-lit and often with live organ music that gives a festive air. Some of the more reasonably-priced drinks that you'll find in SF, it also has a cozy and unpretentious patio.
When I step into The Royal Cuckoo in the Mission, SF, it feels like I've entered a time capsule of cozy charm. The retro decor and dim lighting instantly make me feel at home, like I've stumbled upon a hidden gem in the city.
