This place skews towards a tourist destination, but as a local I really enjoy it. It. The salmon and crab crostini is amazing. Last week I had the chicken on top of the salad and it was super tasty. Just be aware that when it says it has garlic, it has a lot of garlic.

A friend recommended this place. We already ate dinner so decided to have a late night snack. The kitchen stays open past 9pm so don't be fooled by the time listed on Google. We sat outside and there was a heat lamp keeping us toasty. We ordered a grapefruit cocktail and the bagna calda to share. The appetizer came with 2 twisty rolls. The waiter wasn't pushy at all and gave us a hack of ordering a regular baguette (under $2) instead of ordering another twisty roll (approx $5) if you want more vehicle for that delicious garlic oil. Obviously, the baguette wasn't as soft as the twisty roll but it served its purpose. Did I enjoy this snack, absolutely. Did I feel great or smell great for the next 24 hrs? Not so much. If you love garlic, this is a must visit but be wary of the stink that comes after.

Everything was good. But they cheated out on the cocktails, which were not cheap. Lot of ice in a short glass. Sad face. Stick to the wine if you can. Plates are large enough to share, including appetizers. For a couple of women, one appetizers, one salad, one entre was plenty and filling.Vegetarian options: They will accommodate

The bolognese sauce tastes fresh out of a Ragu jar; embarrassingly sweet & bland. Tough to communicate with waitstaff when they can't understand what "bread & garlic spread" means in English.

The Stinking Rose is a garlic restaurant in San Francisco. Known for its very garlic-accentuated meals, it was supposed to be a good restaurant with Italian food. While we were happy with the service, it took two tries for the medium filet mignon to be acceptable. The hors d'oeuvre were good and the garlic already rich. The drinks were substandard with a weird tasting Aperol Spritz. However, the place is interesting to see and taste once when in San Francisco.
