Best butternut squash risotto I've ever had!

Angelo Rauseo

Very pleasant dinner and efficient service. I liked the risotto, a good choice with meat to make a complete dinner, and the amaro to close the meal.

Got the lobster spaghettini with broccolini, but only got stems and no tops. That was rather disappointing but the sauce, the pasta and lobster were great. The desserts were the best part of the meal I had Budino which was delicious and pomegranate sorbet was great too!

On a recent visit to San Francisco, I did something I rarely do which was to have the same cuisine two nights in a row. To be fair to me, the only reason why I had the same type of food for two consecutive dinners was because my mom was with us and she can be difficult to please. I digress: the restaurant has a “hip” vibe, and the high ceilings make it feel like a fun food hall. It was a bit noisy, but overall I liked the ambiance. The menu is straightforward Italian. Having just had pappardelle the night before, I decided to try a different shape of pasta this time, and chose the pork ragu rigatoncini, we also shared a burrata appetizer which was delicious – overall the food while not necessarily unique, was extremely well executed and I would definitely go back. Service was on point, and I appreciated that our server was very patient with my somewhat indecisive mother. I thought the menu was priced fairly given the quality of the food. Highly recommend!

We stopped in for lunch at this open and airy Italian restaurant on the Fillmore Street restaurant row. After cozying up to the empty bar and settling down, we ordered a Caesar, a Bucatini All’amatriciana, and an Orata alla Ligure. The Caesar salad was a nice size, and I liked it. Traditional, with the correct amount of spice, the Bucatini was very good. My Orata was different. I have never tasted anything like it, even on the Ligurian coast. No pesto came near this dish. It had a whisper of the sea, but it was more robust and filling, the Cauliflower, olives, and garlic taking over the flavor. I couldn’t finish the dish, and I’m a member of the clean plate club.

Service was casual, but pleasant. At lunch, the Tailor’s Son was filled with the young and beautiful, ear phones in, speaking with people unseen and unheard. It was like a Waymo for diners. Perhaps at night The Tailor’s Son has more of a neighborly feel.

Food is fantastic. Has no clue this casual unassuming spot would have the best seafood risotto I have had in some time. So fresh and light.

We’ve visited San Francisco for 35 years and eaten in many different restaurants. Our son and daughter-in-law took us to the Tailor’s Son and it was probably the best meal we’ve had in SFO. The appetizers, cocktails, entrees and desserts were all absolutely delicious! Great vibe and exceptional service. I would highly recommend!

Hip, cozy, charming date spot in Pac Heights.
Took the Missus here for a Sunday dinner and we were treated like royalty from start to finish.
Our waiter, Philip, was delightfully vivacious and entertaining--such enthusiasm is rare in this day and age.
We enjoyed several courses but the meatballs, steak tartare and pasta were most memorable and photogenic. Each bite brought a symphony of flavor--rich, beefy, delectable.
The highlight here is the ambiance: the decor is rugged and romantic. It's modern and classical. The vibe is indescribable--you've got to feel it for yourself.
Take your sweetheart and make an evening of it.

Definitely a disappointing and frustrating experience. Not worth even one star. We will never go back and we’ll not recommend to anybody.

We had a reservation inside the restaurant. However, it was too noisy and with loud music, we decided to seat outside. The host said there’s no portable heater. We were seated in the cold for several minutes. We decided to transfer again to a table with an overhead heater but the table’s feet are not equal so the table water keeps spilling when the table is moved… the worst is yet to come.

Our main entree arrived MORE THAN ONE HOUR. We waited for more than one hour to eat. We planned on canceling the order. The server is not even apologetic and asked us- Do you still want your order or not? The food tastes bad, and is not worth the long wait. … Very expensive for a distasteful food.

The menu is a small selection and probably bar dining food. We had party of 3 and order variety of appetizers and second plate and.main course but we were still hungry.

It was our first time at Tailor's Son and we had a great time. The food was really tasty and the service was attending but without feeling pressure to order/ pay/ leave. We really enjoyed the mushroom ravioli, the prosciutto and burrata appetizers and the buddino desert! We probably wouldn't order again the ossobucco risotto as it was a bit too salty and didn't have the right risotto texture.

Fairly medicore service - and fairly dull food. The plates of pasta we had didn't have much to them. Little taste and all a bit bland. Didn't feel overly fresh. We did however enjoy the spritzes but these took a while to come from the bar. We never saw the same waiter/waitress twice and when we arrived we were told off for walking through the wrong door at the front. There was no water for the table. The mark-up on wine was quite something. It is a great space and well designed but the food and service didn't match the design and in the end it all just felt off and overpriced.

We enjoyed the meatballs as appetizer. I had the Gemelli and he enjoyed the Angoltti - both were delicious! We finished with the Budino also excellent! Service was friendly and attentive! The wine was good but would have liked wider and less expensive (lower markup) list. We will definitely come back!
