Very Good
Got the mixed tempura plate. The shrimp was on point, the veg, not so much. I don’t like zucchini and the broccoli was too chunky, the yam and potato were pleasant. Will definitely return. Paul and the staff were very gracious.

Tokyo Express, back in the early 2010's, used to be really popular with a line during lunchtime. Some of my old co-workers used to enjoy coming here. Business has sure when downhill since the pandemic. There was only one other table occupied at lunch time on a Wednesday. The staff was really busy however packing up to-go orders. I had their Wednesday special, the tonkatsu $13. The pork fillet was a bit dry and not juicy, tender and properly cooked. The panko had a nice crunch. It did come with an alright tonkatsu sauce. With this dish, it should come with shredded cabbage served with a miso-ginger dressing or Japanese sesame dressing, but it didn't come with it. Since this is not an authentic Japanese restaurant, I didn't knock off stars for that. Service was non-existent as this is an order at the counter style restaurant and no tea or water was served. There was a free cup of miso soup and my food came out in a reasonable amount of time.
I really love this place every time I come to SF I try to get some Nave yaki udon it's really

Excellent, good prices
No salad ??
Excellent efficient lunch spot for some good Chicken Teriyaki
I've been a regular for over twenty years. It's a convenient and reliable lunch place in SF's Financial District. The teriyaki salmon with tempura is my favorite meal there.

The staff was very kind, and the food was delicious!
Got the chirachi. It comes with miso soup. Everything tasted fresh, the fish portion size is nice. Overall a nice experience
Their vegetable sushi is quite delicious. The yam inside is a bit shrimpy. very special. sweet. Haven't had it elsewhere. The staff was also very humble when I went there today. This is an underrated and delicious restaurant. The chef even came out personally and asked me if I could have shrimp. The environment is generally not too new. But the taste is ok. I didn’t feel uncomfortable after eating.
I went to smell their udon today and it was super fragrant. Even if we can't go tonight. You should definitely try it yourself too!
