Great meal, a bit on the expensive side.
My favourite dishes were
- Mama Fratelli
- The mushroom with cheese
- insalata caprino

My family was visiting from Japan and requested Italian. We reserved for a party for 7. They were able to accommodate my allergy son and they are also kid friendly. They gave our girls crayons and menus to color. We shared 2 appetizers and 4 dishes.
Definitely enjoyed our meal and time spent there.

Really just not good at all honestly. I’m not that picky, even about Italian food, but it was just incredibly mediocre. Pasta tastes like it came from a grocery store box and not the good brands. Over-all just cheap ingredients and service was brutally meh.
They brought out the wrong food for me and it was honestly terrible the couple bites I had of it before they realized and came to get it back and get me the right thing. Then when they brought out my $31 Diavolo it wasn’t much better. Sawdusty texture, nasty dry garnish that gets into everything, cold mozzarella-ish cheese that concerningly doesn’t melt in the warm food dish.
They also brought out the ‘Alfredo’ with added chicken my wife ordered and it was basically just pesto sauce with nothing Alfredo about it and no chicken she ordered in it. Biasco al Lampone drink has maybe 3 drops of actual alcohol in it. They brought out vanilla ice cream because it was our anniversary and I’ve never had ice cream that I had to compare to cheese before but unfortunately it was more like eating bread dough from the texture. Clearly just a cheap ice cream that uses a lot of gelatin instead of actual decent ingredients and process. Overall I couldn’t recommend to anyone unfortunately even though the staff seemed nice (except the open-view kitchen where the chef was visibly throwing a fit - literally tossing plates - when the waiter grabbed the wrong food and he had to remake - again, boxed pasta which he wasn’t even cooking right. Also paid $6 for a coke ordered right when I sat down and they never refilled or offered to refill it once.

I rarely give out low reviews. But we had our anniversary dinner here and just had an overall bad experience. First, the wrong dish was brought out, and then another was missing chicken. Not a big deal at all!!! our waiter was nice and resolved it as quickly as possible, accidents happen— the annoying part was it’s an open kitchen so I could hear the chef say “fk” and like throw the plate to the waiter because we’re sitting literally right there… a foot away which made me feel uncomfy. And then both the wrong dish and the right order my husband had were bad, like objectively just not good. The server asked if we’d like another pasta, but after 2 bad pastas and already hearing the chef drop some f bombs we let the staff know it just wasn’t good and didn’t want to wait around for another pasta to come out. The pasta is clearly not homemade which I would expect at 30+ a plate. And no unique flavor. Super disappointing and weird textures. Was expecting it to be great with the reviews, very disappointing as there are many great options we could have gone to in our short trip. Don’t recommend!

Had dinner there last night with 3 other friends and it was exactly what you would expect in a friendly neighborhood Italian restaurant. The service was beautiful and the food was great!! It's a small space so make reservations.

The service really stands out, and the ambiance is great too. Our antipasti were good, and the pistachio dessert was amazing. Unfortunately, the pasta and the sauce were below average, especially considering the price they charge.
They could also offer more pairing options besides chicken.

Your typical old school Italian restaurant. I've been here a couple of times long ago and was amazed at the food.
Tonight though was a little disappointing. The service and atmosphere is good. The food was a bit mediocre.
We had shrimp scampi as an appetizer and the shrimp were overcooked and dry. Plus it needed some extra salt and pepper.
My Il Diabolo was ok. Nothing to write home about but it was just ok
Our server was great. Friendly and funny.
The place wasn't that crowded when we arrived at almost 6pm. But it was getting packed as we left. Can get a bit noisy but that's expected of an old school Italian restaurant.
I'd still come back but it won't be my first choice.

Wonderful cozy Italian restaurant! The service is wonderful and the waiters make you feel right at home. The food was phenomenal, every single pasta dish was a banger! The wine recommendation was also so awesome! 11/10 I do reccomend this place :)

Lovely ambiance and pleasant staff. Unfortunately the food just isn't very good. Ideally for $30+ menu price for pasta I would hope for fresh pasta. Not only was it box pasta, mine was quite undercooked - you could see the ring of raw dry pasta in the center of each noodle. I like it al dente but this was simply inattentive cooking. For a dish that's the first thing most home cooks learn to make, you gotta get it right.
Edit: The owner has responded to call me "weak" for leaving a review rather than bringing up my issue to my server. For the record, I did bring it up and the server graciously brought it back to the kitchen. When the pasta returned, the exterior was softer, but the center was still unpleasantly raw. At that point my dinner companions had almost finished their plates so I decided it wasn't worth waiting more so I just sucked it up and ate poorly cooked pasta until I wasn't hungry any more.

Enjoyed full service at the bar. The food was excellent. Me and my wife had spaghetti vongole and risotto. Like a part of Italy in SF. Can really recommend it!
