This is my favorite italian restaurant in San Francisco, the closest thing you can get to authentic italian cuisine. The environment is very cozy (that of a traditional trattoria), and the staff is super friendly & helpful, Milo is the best :)

Overall an amazing experience, will definitely be back. Some vegetarian options but menu was not clearly labeled with what is/isn't vegetarian or vegan which was frustrating. I ordered the gnocchi and my friend ordered the penne verde, both fantastic. Tiramisu was more like a chocolate cake, but still tasted good. Service was standard and ambiance was very nice! Will be back, hopefully they make better menus

Recent visit to Contadina started with a couple of their espresso martinis at the bar. They were delicious and the caffeine did not affect my sleep that evening. We split the Caesar salad again and my entree this evening was the Carlesimo. Great evening!! Thanks!

Where to begin with Trattoria Contadina!! First, reservations are highly recommended because it was very busy right when they opened. The restaurant was super cozy and warm - I loved looking at all the memorabilia and the history of the restaurant. Our server was so friendly and recommended some of his favorites since there were so many options to choose from! Meatballs 4.6/5 Cesare Salad 5/5 - I would drink the dressing because it's just that good!! Il Diavolo 5/5 - it is on the spicier side and definitely added a nice kick to the meal Tiramisu 5/5!!!!! Definitely more on the chocolatey side - HIGHLY RECOMMEND The quality of the food was absolutely amazing, so much flavor, great ambiance & a great place for any occasion! Can't wait to be back!

Just happened to stumble into this wonderful restaurant on a rainy holiday Sunday evening and couldn't have had a better experience. Our reservation at Original Joe's was getting bumped out 30-45 minutes so we bailed. Lucky us. It was too loud to even talk at Original Joe's. We'll be returning to Trattoria Contradina in the future.Dietary restrictions: They did have some gluten-free options. Yea.

The restaurant is very nice. Looks like they have concern their local charm.Italian food is delicious. Basically everything is very typical Italian cuisine. All the pastas are delicious and very delicious cheese dishes.I want to try many dishes and everything was delicious. There were some room for improvement when it came to the gnocchis. I know this is a very complicated dish and it takes a lot of time in my case they were a little bit undercooked, but the flavors were there and I have to say it was delicious. If they would’ve left it a a bit longer, that dish would’ve been perfection.Recommend you share this dish with the green wine the offer wine from Napa, California, Italy enjoying your dish with a great wine offerYou know the place is very cozy. Delicious. We had a great time here I went with my friends and the food was very good. Even the very typically Italian you will have a great time and I’m pretty sure you will enjoy the food.

This restaurant came to us as recommended. We both loved the Caesar Salad. We also enjoyed the sour dough. My wife had the Risotto and enjoyed it. I ordered the Carlesimo. I had to send it back as it was very salty. They were very good to us and the service was very good. The ambiance was what we were looking for; kinda old school family style.

Best Caesar salad I've had in the city hands down. Food is always delicious, servers and staff are always so lovely, nice and accommodating. Would recommend reservations because this place gets packed in the evenings. Also delicious espresso martinis

This has been my go to Italian spot for over a decade. I love the ambiance, it's old school Italian- casual but elegant with no pretentiousness. The wait staff is super friendly and willing to give advice and make accommodations. They're also very knowledgeable about the wine menu. The food is always awesome. I usually always get a fresh pasta, which never disappoints. You have to try the roasted red pepper appetizer. It's popular for a reason. This last time I had the classic spaghetti and meatballs and it was delicious. Do yourself a favor and give this little hidden gem a shot.

Just what I hoped for- a small cozy authentic family run Italian restaurant in North Beach with amazing food and hospitality. David was a wonderful host who knew gave me wine tastes and embellished food descriptions when we described our possible choices. The Carlesimo was perfectly balanced with porcini and the spicy tomato cream sauce and the pesce piccata excellent. Caesar salad was good, not too special, with anchovies and the tiramisu was light, lovely and not overly sweet. No photos, just pure enjoyment.

My families FIRST time here. Came to celebrate my parents ANNIVERSARY & authentic Italian food is what they wanted. Although the place was small, it was very HOMEY. Staff were all very friendly, nice & helpful. FOOD WAS GREAT & my drink was fantastic (Union & Mason)! MUST GET: Mama Fratelli & Carlesimo
