TLDR: It's the most reliable fish and chip store. I've tried this place at various times in a more than 5 year span and it has always been good. Can and will always recommend. Fish: Batter isn't too thick, and the fish has a flaky solid bite. Crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside with seasoning that won't overpower the mouth. Shrimp: The same solid battering with the same seasoning profile. Shrimp was not overcooked and it provides a different texture compared to the fish. Fries: Fries are fries. It's nothing special, but they didn't mess it up. Clam Chowder: Rich, creamy, loaded with seafood, and it can surprisingly compete with the better clam chowders around town. Service: It's a food truck. You order, you pay, and you get your food. It's not hard to mess it up. Ambiance: The picnic benches under the umbrellas around the truck isn't bad given the San Francisco climate. The tables are sometimes sticky though because they're probably not wiped as much.

Stopped in on Wednesday and was broken hearted that it's the only day that it's closed. Making up and going today for my calamari fix. Just the best. I made it! Add three packets of Tapatio hot sauce and a squeeze of lemon to dip sauce, delicious!

What a delicious treat. We walked down the Embarcadero for a few miles, passed through Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf. Pier 39 was pretty busy, but nothing stood out, everything looked the same as it always does. Pier 39 was so run down. Found this place and they are just a few blocks away from Fishermans Wharf. Worth the few extra steps. Cute little permanent food truck with a good amount of seats. We walked right up and placed our order. Took about 15 min to come out. Little wait, but for a reason. Freshhhh Order of fish and chips, upgraded the chips to Crazy style and clam chowder in a bread bowl. Fish and chips - fish was fresh, coating was nicely cooked and had a wonderful crunch. Not too greasy. Crazy fries were delicious!!!! Crispy steak fries with garlic and melted parmesan cheese. Clam Chowder Bread Bowl - chowder itself was fresh, hot and flavorful. Cooked very well, clams were soft and tasty. Bread bowl was like any other. Next time I'll ask if they can do the garlic and parm toasted on the bread bowl before they put chowder. I think this would take it all up a level.

Was very pleased with how fresh the food was. Cooked after you place the order and not greesy. My son and I really enjoyed their fish & fries. I recommend to friends and family

Whenever we visit the Bay Area, we try to stop by the Wharf and get fish & chips from The Codmother. It's been a while but we stopped by on playoff Sunday. We ordered online easily and stopped by to pick up the food when it was ready (you receive a text when ready). It's a permanent food truck with a few tables to eat outside if you'd like. The prices were affordable too. We both got the combo of fish, shrimp and chips. The fish are large and fresh! Delicious! Service was good too. No complaints here. Metered or garage parking is available.

If you'd like really thin pollock fish and not a very good batter. Greasy and soggy fries this is the place to go. I tried this because it says this is one place that you have to go to it's on the 100 list but I'm telling you this is the worst fish and chips I've ever had You can just tell that the people that work here don't care anymore they're just sick of it. Can't even make good chips I mean come on you can't even make french fries.

Everything I wanted this to be, it was!!! Absolutely loved this place down to the name. Delicious and fresh. Cooked perfectly with generous servings. I had the calamari and was going to just eat a few bites, mostly cause I was still full from breakfast elsewhere, but they were so tasty, I ate almost the entire thing. Oops Then I had to sample my hubs fish and chips combo. Also yummy! I'm so happy I suffered a stuffed tummy to try this joint, I'd recommend it to all.

Came here for lunch and the battered fish was delicious. The batter was light and crispy and their tartar sauce was really good and went well with the fish. I thought the shrimp, clam chowder, and chips were just okay. But my partner was a fan of their chips here. I didn't particularly care for their shrimp and the batter on that was just okay, it would be better if it had more flavor or was a similar batter as the fish. The clam chowder here was bland and lacked flavor as well. Service here was pretty quick and they're on top of cleaning the tables in between guests. Overall this is a great spot for some solid batter fried fish.

Oh. My. Goodness. Seriously best thing we ate the whole trip. It's a MUST. Husband wasn't sure about it at first but man, good prices, nice people, a place tip sit after sight seeing was great, but the food was top notch. Service was quick and food was hot!

I remember coming here when my eldest son was a baby and being greeted by The Codmother herself! We arrived at a good time as the lunch rush was just minutes away. The Codmother suggested a couple items for us to try along with some deep fried oreos for later. Hands down the best fish & chips I've ever had. The cod was hot, fresh out the fryer, thick and crispy. The chips (fries) were fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Would definitely come again.

Always fresh and good amount. The Codmother Fish & Chips is our go to when we're in the area. The staff is very friendly.

I ordered the fish/shrimp combo with fries. It was a large serving & simply delicious. The batter on the cod was light, the shrimp were juicy & fried to perfection. I am serious about my sauce and they did not disappoint! The cocktail sauce & tartar sauce were both outstanding. The pricing was on point for the amount of food. I'll be back!!

Love this place. The food is piping hot in the best way. I always get the fish and chips and it's so good.

While visiting San Francisco and missing Friday fish fry (being a Wisconsin native) Friday Fish Fry's are deep in my blood!! We searched the local establishments for fish, Codmother came up quite often in our searches. We figured with all that chatter, there had to be something about it. Making our way to the warf, (which strangely reminded us of Wisconsin Dells downtown, in a way...) we found Codmother. We placed our order at the window with a friendly helpful staff member. We got there just in time as the case may be. Just as we stay at the picnic table two or three other orders came up behind us. There was plenty of seating, spaced nicely for groups. Now.... For the food.... The fish, while not beer battered ( which I always prefer with a whitefish) it was crispy, and HOT very HOT. But very flakey. While it was probably on me for not waiting a little bit to dive in a bit. But flavor wise, still tasty. The garlic fries, now I probably should have read the menu closer, or asked questions. But I would pass on the garlic fries, for one reason, it's just raw garlic on the fries. AGAIN, maybe it's just a personal preference/taste issue, but a toss in roasted garlic??? The raw on top was a bit much for me. The Fried Oreos, the batter was sweet and crunchy and tasty. But as you got to the Oreo, the filling was.... Almost.... Gone. I'm not sure if it was that the oil was so hot it melted it or what but just seem like it. In the end, if you are in the area and looking for a fish fix, I would stop, but would I tell someone seek them out JUST to go there, unfortunately probably not.

It was good enough but nothing special fish and chips wise, I'm a Brit so had high hopes when I saw all the hype and the whole "British" branding. Next time I'd opt for a local sit down restaurant and go for their version of fish and chips. The chowder in sourdough (famous in the area with lots of places) was good. No highchairs or provision for kids in the outside seating.
