The food was amazing, but the service was even better. Andrew was our waiter and he was so kind and courteous. He even brought us desserts because there were no more noodles left for my daughter's dish, on the house! Thank you!

Price is reasonable and the food passable. Service is a bit of a mess. Overall a disappointing experience.

Worth trying. Some may like or some may not. Even vegan udon is really good.

Really good udon in an unassuming venue. The veggie udon is some of the best I've had with tons of fresh veggies. I also love that they have a la carte tempura so you can get exactly the amount you want. Highly recommend.

Pretty interesting format for noodles and sides, worth a try

Closer to 3.5 stars. Casual, fast udon shop with a similar vibe to the more popular Marukame Udon. Niku choice between beef and pork (on the sweeter side). Quality of the noodles was similar to both restaurants. The main difference is the quality and selection of the tempura. There were less variety and quality was inconsistent (some of the vegetables were not fully cooked and tempura was sometimes soggy), probably because of a slower turnover. Parking was a non-issue on a Thursday night. Overall, enjoyed the udon, but the tempura was less than desired.

I had Niku Tana Udon and broccoli tempra. First of all, if you say "Japanese food", it is all about broth (which means right preparation). They fail. Too salty, too much soy sauce and too sweet. If you want to fill up your empty stomach, it is a right place but if you are looking for Japanese food like the yelp and google map says this isn't a Japanese food. The broccoli tempra was good tho. It's two stars because it made me full and the tempra quality. But will I come back again?? Nope.

Disappointing food. I'm from Japan and I know what good udon tastes. I got following item: -Kama-age don: meh. the noodle was too long and made it very hard to eat. It would have been fine if their Renge( udon spoon) was larger to fit all the noodles, but it was too small for the length of the noodle. -Cold Sanuki udon: it was just ok. The presentation was poor with too much seaweed on top and made the dish looks like something exploded. Messy to eat. Small portion. - shiitake tempura: this was good. Decent size. - kabocha / sweet potato tempura: both were too thin. - shrimp tempura: tiny. -other-- unmemorable.

I'm a fan of the fast casual, cafeteria style concept and have been wanting to try a bowl of noodles at Udon Time since they announced their opening. The Niku Udon had a flavorful broth and a substantial amount of beef. Even better with self added cilantro and plenty of grated ginger. The noodles were just too soft and the soup gets cold easily once you actually sit down to start eating. I came near opening time so they only had a couple tempura options laid out. I was disappointed with the few available options though loved the sweet potato tempura I did get to try. It's priced higher than the very popular Marugame Udon Niku Udon. I appreciate the quality at Udon Time (and i know this is the design district) but still don't think i'd come back to Udon Time when I get the same satisfaction from a simple bowl at Marugame.

Wow. Authentic. Delicious. A bit annoyong with the trendy popular line and slowness of ordering but yeah... It's very much worth it in the end.

I think this place is 3.5 stars. It's nice that there's a good place with Asian food in Soma, but $15 for a bowl of udon is just very pricey. We got the beef udon with egg. The udon is good and very soft. The egg was really good! Warm and perfectly soft. 5 stars for the egg. Maybe I'm unfairly comparing this place to Muragame in Stonestown, but Muragame's large bowl of beef udon is $10-11, and the udon is very silky (not just soft). However, the egg is cold, so Udon Time wins on the egg criteria. If I lived in Soma, would I come frequently? Yeah probably. Therefore, 4 stars :)

High quality ingredients with quick and timely service. This is a clean and tasty spot for authentic udon during lunch. The line can be intimidating but it moves fast and well worth the wait.

Very flavorful and the extras like tempura are nice but can add up! Also appreciated the condiments bar to put a little extra flavor in the bowl.

Was excited to try this place but wasn't wowed by it...I got the vegetarian ramen and 1 shrimp tempura and 1 chicken (tempura is self serve since it's a side essentially) + cute neon signs (wish I got a pic but alas i was trying to present at dinner) and nice clean place for lunch or casual dinner (family friendly too) + udon was nice and thick and fresh! Rly liked the noodles which rly saved the meal + they have a vegan and veggie options..maybe the curry noodles would've been better? - here's the thing, noodles are cheap but the add ons like toppings and tempura makes it $$ like chicken tempura was $2 for a small piece! Should've all been $1 or max $1.50 in my opinion - veggie broth was just alright...wouldn't crave it or come back again for it

Great stuff, never had udon before but I liked it. I ordered kamatama + pork and tempura.
