Uzbegim is the real deal! Great food, atmosphere, and service. I ordered the hand pulled beef noodle soup with vegetables. It was perfectly balanced, hearty and delicious. Congrats to Anvar and the team.

My review is not about the food but mostly the service.
We love Uzbek cuisine and wanted to try this new cafe to make it one of our lunch spots in the future. Unfortunately, our experience was not great from the start. We didn’t feel welcomed, nonchalantly were shown the table, given the menus and had to wait long enough to ask the waitress to take our orders. Again, no smile, no small talk what they can recommend, etc. We are bilingual so can speak both Eng/Rus, it did not help. They brought labneh never mentioned that the “non” is not included and we need to order it separately, they brought bread when we almost finished our labneh, brought plov and manti but we had to wait for another 15 min until lulya kebab arrived (they never mentioned that we had to wait longer for it). Did not clean the table after the first course, did not offer a separate glass for the kompot (we had to finish water first then pour kompot). All these look like small things but they add up…
At the end they overcharged us. It is not even about the money, it is about the attitude to the customer: lentil soup $7 in the menu, $8 in our check. Turkish coffee $5 (menu) - $7 check, baklava $2.50-3.
Regarding the food:
We really loved Chuchvara, mantu with butternut, lula kebab, lentil soup.
Plov (the taste) and samsa (mostly the presentation) were underwhelming.
I think, they need to omit the “turkish coffee” and “baklava” or find a better vendor. Coffee was watery and definitely not Turkish style (from the experience) and baklava was either previously frozen or undercooked, it was dry and stale. There was a Turkish customer sitting next to us, his eyes said it all.
Regarding the atmosphere: there were people (vendors) walking back and forth with big packages of meat, trays with cakes, etc. The waiters were either somewhere at the back or dealing with those delivery people. We did not have just one person to serve us and didn’t get her name. The name on our receipt is Anvar A but no male person served us:)
This review is mostly to help this cafe to improve on the customer service side and get closer to the American level of service.

Uzbek restaurant is like a little cuisine journey to Central Asia. My own oxtail borscht I take 2 days to make at home is a specialty of mine, but I have to say theirs might even be better -delicious and authentic with shaved pieces of beef. We got another one to take home with us. The lamb shank was slow roasted in a dark, rich Uzbek sauce with dates, apricots, olives and great spices and their Baratta & Arugula salad was super fresh made with a balsamic dressing using Saba oil. I was almost hesitant to even leave this review because it’s a smaller place and the next time I visit I really hope there’s no waitlist to get in.

Amazing Food
Just stopped in here on my lunch break, so it was fairly quick, but really delicious food. I got the rice pilaf (PLOV) with beef. The beef was very tender and juicy, the rice was delicious and flavorful, and the match stick carrots were cooked such that they basically fell apart in my mouth. The blending of the simple flavors and textures between the seasoned rice, beef and the carrots was great, and felt pretty unique considering the type of food that I'm used to. Also, the price point was extremely reasonable for San Francisco, and for the quality of the food I received. Highly recommend
