The Boscaiola was one of the best dishes I’ve ever had in the Bay, maybe top 5 for meThe gnocchi was the perfect texture and give, with a fresh richness to the sauce of white truffle oil and porcini. the sausage brought out a hearty, crunchy fatness to it all that had me kissing my fingers chef style !What a wonderful time here all around. The owner, Vega, was there, and she was so welcoming, generous and fun to talk to! As well as our amazing waitress Julia. We also had the canneli and calamari, I’m a bit more of a softer bean sort of gal but the calamari was perfectly seared and lightly seasoned with a powerful punch. My friend’s dishes, the veal cutlet/mashed potatoes + the zucchini rigatoni were delish dishes as well that they ate up in a split second. Great dishes. BUT I truly was blown away by the Boscaiola, highly recommend. The bread was fresh and wheaty in a cottage core classic style. paired so well with everything, including the beets and burrata. The burrata when eaten at same time as beets was perfect, burrata by itself was great but could have used more seasoning.ALSO! Divine Wine Wednesdays = HALF OFF the bottle of wine, amazing deal

Fantastic experience at Vega. I had the opportunity to meet the owner a while back and decided to stop by to prestige her restaurant and have a nice Italian dinner. Vega did not disappoint. It is certainly one of the best Italian places in the city, counting also with a pretty friendly and attentive staff. We had the sautéed calamari with beans, polenta with meatballs (absolutely divine), a four cheese pizza and also a seafood pasta dish with squid ink. They were all delicious. To me the highlight was the flavor and aroma from their tomato sauce used in their meatballs. Certainly homemade, fresh and very aromatic, it was delicious. The pizza had a nice crust I liked the pairing of the cheeses and the thinly sliced pears, the pasta was also delicious and had a very garlicky taste that I personally loved. As in our dessert, we really enjoyed their Creme Brûlée Cheesecake. To sum up, Vega is a gem and definitely worth your visit.

So good! And the gluten free pizza crust is fantastic! Very loud, a bit pricey, and consistently understaffed but it's very worth it for the foodDietary restrictions: Fantastic gluten free crust for the pizza, big recommend

Last night I revisited Vega. I had the Capellini with crab . Excellent and very tasty. A repeat in the future . My friend had the rigatoni. His standard order there. Always repeat for him.My only suggestion for improvement was a little more light in the main dining room so we can really appreciate the beauty of our food. Vega is still my favorite Italian restaurant in San Francisco

Heavy-hitting hole in the wall with consistently delicious pizza and pasta. I think people know this place as a pizza place— get the Mushroom Funghi— but the pasta is just as good if not better. We did the Gnocchi that was recommended by the server and probably stole the show. Bottle of the rotating house wine was affordable — really all you can ask for at a neighborhood pizza pasta spot.

Love this place! Absolutely delicious Italian food- well-prepared and served with style and panache. We ate outside in the well-heated parklet for dinner a couple of nights. Delicious salads and pasta dishes and desserts! Highly recommend!

Very excited to have tried Vega on Courtland Ave. Greeted with buona sera and their house wine definitely reminded me of Italy. Each dish was a crowd pleaser, and we had to try their tiramisu as the table next door was drooling over theirs. We will definitely make it back!

I love Vega! I go there a lot when I’m in Bernal Heights. The staff are always so friendly and they were super accommodating too! I got a custom shrimp pasta (asked for them to sub the meat out for shrimp since I’m pescatarian!) The shrimp was cooked so so well too! The restaurant has a cozy feel and indoor and outdoor seats. Sometimes, it can get a bit dark indoors since it’s only candlelit but it does give it a bit of a romantic feel.

I have been coming to this restaurant since I 1st moved to SF 2019 and it is now our favorite place to go in SF on a date night!Everything there is great here, but I want to start with what I think makes this place one of the top spots in SF!I go here to see familiar and always smiling faces after a long day at work, after a flight or when I want to taste food like the one my Nonna used to cook! TY Vega for being so kind and making this place homey! Now the food..Antipasto: I always get the Carciofini Ripieni and it comes with an amazing salad to start things going, their minestrone and octopus is great too!Primi Piatti: My favorite dishes are the Gnocchi Alla Boscaiola, the Carbonara, Fettuccine Al Ragu Di Cinghiale, and the Capellini Al Granchio.. although.. they always have an amazing special dish for us to try!Specials: If I had a wand, I would add the involtinis to the menu ohhhh woooow.. I had to order it a second time to take home! Its so hard to find involtinis not made with tomato sauce! I also love that they usually have a mushroom pasta dish in this menu and most days I go for it!Wine: I just let them recommend one and I have never been disappointed (yet) :)Dessert: Yes.. their tiramisu, and all deserts are great but.. we were surprised by their sorbetto! You can tell it was made with fresh berries and it was nice and light!Overall: You can tell that this restaurant cares about their people and the food, real Florentine authenticity, with a family dinner atmosphere! Their bread is from a local business nearby and their olive oil selection is always perfect! Looking forward to coming again and again!

Great ambiance (dim lighting, tight seating), & a great date spot! The sauces for each dish were so flavorful and well balanced. The red sauces were not too acidic and the béchamel was not too rich. The portions might look small, but the pasta is very filling. I shared the items pictured with my date & it was plenty for the both of us. We paired our dishes with the house white wine and it was a great deal-- 8$ for a glass. Would recommended eating here for a nice dinner!

I came here when I was stuck in SF due to bad traffic on the Bay Bridge. I really enjoyed my meal. The staff was lovely and the food was good. I had the mushroom cannelloni which was very good. My only quibble, and its really a quibble, is that I would have preferred more bechamel tomato sauce on the plate. Flavors were very good. I had the panna cotta for dessert because they were out of my first choice. The panna cotta was very good, creamy, light and flavorful.I also enjoyed a nice glass of Montepulciano to accompany my meal. All in all a great experience. Will definitely go back!

This Italian spot is an adorable neighborhood gem. The service is lovely. The outdoor patio is covered on the sides and has heat lamps. There are ample options for those with dietary restrictions. But... the food didn't meet the expectations we had going in. I got the orecchiette and my husband got the vegetarian pizza with vegan cheese. We also got sides of mushrooms and sautéed spinach. The pasta and mushrooms were terribly under-seasoned. I had to add a LOT of salt. The pizza crust could have used a few more minutes in the oven. The best thing we ate was the complimentary bread, which was warmed and crusty. We really enjoyed our time here, but the meal simply wasn't worth it.
