Love this place but quality has been slipping recently. Last two delivery orders arrived with issue: one was completely the wrong sandwich, the other was missing paid-for add ons. I hope they can figure this out!

This was a to go order, i had a salad that was missing most of the tasty ingredients, quite disappointing.

As a GF girly, I nearly screamed when I was told they have GF bagels. Tasted so good I went to order a second straight away. The shop is beautiful, tidy and all the products are fresh and well sourced. I’ll be telling everyone to check it out!

Bagel was okay but definitely not up to my New York standards...usually not a good sign when they default to toasting it. Salmon cream cheese but pretty skimpy in portion (see photo).

Had tuna sandwich and chicken schnitzel. Loved it, great service, very polite staff

I had only ordered by way of DoorDash until today when I went in and sure enough all of those reviews that I’ve read about the staff being unfriendly we’re absolutely correct though I didn’t wanna believe it at the time. The thing is that they are young people at the counter that are getting a very bad start to customer service. They definitely do not want to be there.

UPDATE: visited today and added another star to service. Isabelle (Isabel?) pulled this restaurant out of the fire so to speak. Pleasant and efficient she was so a star added to service. Wednesday mid day is the time to visit it seems, otherwise I’d recommend door dash.

Impulse stop for breakfast - had the Yo-Semite (eggs, house chicken breakfast sausage, melted cheese, and green chile aioli) on a salt-and-pepper bagel, which I'd never had before but was very good. Also got a very tasty latke which came with sour cream and apple butter (first time seeing apple butter on the west coast!). All in all a delicious and filling breakfast, great staff and service.

It’s a nice place to visit, the bagel however is just not up to par. It’s like pizza crust, it’s soft and light but not chewy. The decor inside is nice m, lox and spread are good. But the bagel should be the star of the show

They don’t accept cash “for safety reasons”. What is that supposed to mean?

I was really looking forward to trying Wise Sons, but my experience was incredibly disappointing. The clerk behind the counter was rude and seemed annoyed by simple questions, making the whole ordering process uncomfortable. For the price, I expected much better service.

Speaking of price, the food here is absurdly overpriced. Nearly $19 for a basic Reuben sandwich? The portion was fine, but nothing about it justified the cost. The breakfast burrito was also way too expensive for what it was—just some eggs, potatoes, and a tiny bit of pastrami. I don’t mind paying for quality, but this was just highway robbery.

Between the unwelcoming staff and the overpriced menu, I won’t be coming back. There are plenty of other places in the city that serve great food without the attitude and inflated prices.

Absolutely delicious

$20 for a 6 oz corned beef sandwich? With not even a side of fries? No thanks.

Rated service 3/5 only bc i ordered my pastrami with mustard and sadly enough I didn't get my mustard 😭 the sandwich was still phenomenal and I can't wait to come back and order the same but be sure to have my mustard! (Ate the sandwich in a completely different location)

Hate to do this, and I gave Wise Sons plenty of opportunity to rectify things before I wrote this review. I don't want to give anyone a one-star review; I WANT to be respected and appreciated as a longtime customer.

The short of it is I've had three consecutive errors made on take out orders in-store, AND have purchased not one but two bags of moldy-tasting bagels from Rainbow Grocery. I've politely emailed them three times since July with zero response.

I've been a WS customer for many years. I still would like a response, and an apology, and a credit. I'd be happy with them comping me a sandwich and a side--or thrilled with them issuing me a generous credit matching the entirety of money I wasted on their products.

Nothing. Incredibly poor service and look. Their lack of response to any of the emails leads me to air this publicly.

I can forgive a place for a mistake or two. I have a background in food and hospitality and I know it's a very, very hard business, with very lean margins, difficulty staffing, etc. There's no excuse for so many mistakes made, without acknowledgment or effort to make things right. I would have forgiven them each time.

I still very much hope that Wise Sons will make things right by me.

Wise Sons Jewish Deli is hands-down one of the best culinary gems in the Bay Area! I stopped by last Sunday morning at 10 AM, and the place was already buzzing with energy—a testament to its well-deserved popularity.

The food? Simply incredible. Their pastrami sandwich is a masterpiece—thick, juicy, and bursting with flavor, nestled between perfectly toasted rye bread. And don’t even get me started on their matzo ball soup—it’s like a warm hug in a bowl! For dessert, their babka is a must-try: rich, chocolatey, and utterly divine.

What makes this deli stand out is the blend of authenticity and approachability. The staff are welcoming and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. Plus, the vibe is cozy and nostalgic, with just the right touch of modern flair.

If you’re craving comfort food that’s made with love and steeped in tradition, Wise Sons Jewish Deli is the place to be. I’ll definitely be back soon—probably for that lox bagel calling my name!
