Xiaoyu's Kitchen is a small, family-run eatery offering a large menu with a variety of dishes. The restaurant serves well-prepared and tasty Japanese-inspired meals, including shishito peppers with miso, soft shell crab, tempura, and chicken karage. The 3-item dinner box is an excellent value at $20, with options like tonkatsu, chicken katsu, and salmon teriyaki. The chicken katsu stands out for its light, airy, and crispy texture, while the shishito peppers and garlic edamame are among the best in San Francisco, even after many years of dining around Japantown and the Richmond. The kaki fry was the only disappointment, but the soft shell crab and oysters were very good. The restaurant is suitable for takeout and has limited seating, making it ideal for small groups or a casual meal. Parking can be found on nearby avenues or streets like Anza, Cabrillo, or Geary with some patience. With reasonable prices, a cozy atmosphere, and great food, Xiaoyu's Kitchen is a popular spot for a casual Japanese meal.
