Such a great spot, really fast service and fresh food. A wide amount of food options as well! We got a combo plate with tempura & eggplant and chicken katsu curry. Loved them both

Incredible service as well as delicious food! They were happy to make substitutions to my meal and the prices can’t be beat. Great range of vegetarian options. The veggie dumplings are a must order!

My biggest regret is not knowing this place existed sooner! I’ve lived in the area for close to 10 years and while I’ve learned the neighborhood gems this one remained hidden. Prices are incredible, food is even better. My only comment is order the chicken katsu instead of the teriyaki, the teriyaki is good and worth the price but the katsu is too good for what it’s worth! I’ve tried all the Japanese curry places around, I love Volcano, but if I’m looking for a great meal, a good price, and a satisfying end to my night, the late hours and wonderful food of Xiaoyu is not just a place to settle for, it’s the one I’m hoping is open, and lucky for me, they usually are!

So glad this place was open late when I was returning home from work around 9:45 pm and super starving!
I usually cook my own food to save money and avoid seed oils & sugar, but I decided to break the bank & treat myself to a meal...
I got the salt and pepper chicken wings- they were GREAT!!!- loved the Thai chili & garlic slices they sat on, perfectly crispy & you get a good amount in the order-
And the 3-selection dinner box, with beef teriyaki, mixed tempura, and grilled mackerel.
Everything was delicious and very well-prepared. The mackerel was a small portion and slightly over-cooked but it was fresh & the flavor was excellent!
The beef was tender and juicy and cooked medium-rare to perfection.
The tempura was, of course, exquisite, as it generally is- sweet potato, broccoli, carrot, and two shrimp.
It came with a small scoop of rice, miso soup (average) and a tiny salad (the dressing was nauseatingly sweet 😵💫).
I loved the food, the cashier was friendly, and I'm definitely going to order more food in the future!
It seemed pretty expensive to me but considering similar offerings from similar restaurants it was a decent deal and I was only slightly hungry after finishing the meal!

We stopped in for a late night katsu curry and this place delivered. It was reasonably priced for the amount of food (salad, miso soup, and entree), the fruit+lemonade+tea was surprisingly delicious. We dined in at the window, it was quiet, we had a great time chatting while looking out at a pretty quiet street.

Very small Japanese restaurant we had a grazing light lunch at and thought very good. Their shishito peppers and garlic edamame are the best we've ever had even after 45 years in SF eating at many Japanese restaurants around the City, especially Japantown and the Richmond. Soft shell crab and Kaki fry (oysters) were also very good.
Parking: This is inner Richmond but with some patience can find parking on Avenues or Anza/Cabrillo/Geary.

Fantastic. The tempura is perfectly fried. The tonkatsu is so rich. The eggs, oh. The pork, oh. Reasonably priced.

Best food and price point in the Bay Area and honestly anywhere. The taste the food the price they just get everything right and every dish is somehow so perfectly done and so good. They’re so accommodating too they switched out my rice for udon for me and I’m so thankful. The sweetest too I think they’re a family restaurant

Terrible customer service, very rude.
Obviously not a sit down place. Floors were super sticky. Seen the raid sitting out behind the counter almost scared me away but it had such a good rating I had to try. The tempera was good they just didn't give me much. Salad was delicious but skim on the dressing. The tempura sauce was meh. Teriyaki chicken was ok. And was the first place I can ever remember not even getting a cup of water. Needless to say I won't be back. To bad seemed like nice people

Truly a hidden gem in every sense of the word. The owners of Xiaoyu's mean business with the focus on really good food quality and preparation. No gimmicks , no big screen TV's or loud music. The folks at Xiaoyu's are proud of what they do and customer satisfaction is top of their agenda. Highly recommended.
