Delicious and quickly prepared Japanese cuisine at a really affordable price point! It’s conveniently located near Golden Gate Park, would recommend!
Don’t be fooled, this is a mostly-japanese fast food joint. It’s fine and no-frills, so it’s inexpensive but you get what you pay for here.

Simple. Really tasty. I got the lunchtime bento with chicken teriyaki, chicken katsu and California roll. Each was quite good! The only thing I could complain about is the rice being slightly dry, but even then, still tasty.
Dear Xiayous Management, I am writing to address an unauthorized charge that appeared on my credit card following my visit to your restaurant on November 23, 2025.When I settled my bill, I left a cash tip for the server and subsequently signed the credit card receipt. The tip line on the receipt was left blank or marked to indicate that the total was already covered. This was due, in part, to a language barrier and subsequent confusion. However, my credit card was charged an additional amount for a gratuity that I did not authorize. The original authorized amount was $38.06, but the total charged to my card is $45.67. This difference of $7.61 is an unauthorized addition.I request that you immediately refund the unauthorized tip amount ($\$7.61$) to my credit card. Please review your copy of the receipt, which will clearly show that the tip line was not filled out by me.I look forward to your prompt confirmation that this unauthorized amount has been reversed. If the charge is not corrected by the end of the day tomorrow, I will be forced to resolve this unauthorized transaction through my bank's dispute process.Thank you,

Consistently great quality, especially for the prices. Also love that they are open late. Definition of a go-to neighborhood spot.
Impressed by the food, especially for a takeout spot. Beef teriyaki was fatty and had a nice char. Salmon teriyaki was moist and the skin had a nice crunchy
Rice had teriyaki sauce underneath which was a great touch!

Such a great spot, really fast service and fresh food. A wide amount of food options as well! We got a combo plate with tempura & eggplant and chicken katsu curry. Loved them both

Incredible service as well as delicious food! They were happy to make substitutions to my meal and the prices can’t be beat. Great range of vegetarian options. The veggie dumplings are a must order!

My biggest regret is not knowing this place existed sooner! I’ve lived in the area for close to 10 years and while I’ve learned the neighborhood gems this one remained hidden. Prices are incredible, food is even better. My only comment is order the chicken katsu instead of the teriyaki, the teriyaki is good and worth the price but the katsu is too good for what it’s worth! I’ve tried all the Japanese curry places around, I love Volcano, but if I’m looking for a great meal, a good price, and a satisfying end to my night, the late hours and wonderful food of Xiaoyu is not just a place to settle for, it’s the one I’m hoping is open, and lucky for me, they usually are!

So glad this place was open late when I was returning home from work around 9:45 pm and super starving!
I usually cook my own food to save money and avoid seed oils & sugar, but I decided to break the bank & treat myself to a meal...
I got the salt and pepper chicken wings- they were GREAT!!!- loved the Thai chili & garlic slices they sat on, perfectly crispy & you get a good amount in the order-
And the 3-selection dinner box, with beef teriyaki, mixed tempura, and grilled mackerel.
Everything was delicious and very well-prepared. The mackerel was a small portion and slightly over-cooked but it was fresh & the flavor was excellent!
The beef was tender and juicy and cooked medium-rare to perfection.
The tempura was, of course, exquisite, as it generally is- sweet potato, broccoli, carrot, and two shrimp.
It came with a small scoop of rice, miso soup (average) and a tiny salad (the dressing was nauseatingly sweet 😵💫).
I loved the food, the cashier was friendly, and I'm definitely going to order more food in the future!
It seemed pretty expensive to me but considering similar offerings from similar restaurants it was a decent deal and I was only slightly hungry after finishing the meal!

We stopped in for a late night katsu curry and this place delivered. It was reasonably priced for the amount of food (salad, miso soup, and entree), the fruit+lemonade+tea was surprisingly delicious. We dined in at the window, it was quiet, we had a great time chatting while looking out at a pretty quiet street.

Very small Japanese restaurant we had a grazing light lunch at and thought very good. Their shishito peppers and garlic edamame are the best we've ever had even after 45 years in SF eating at many Japanese restaurants around the City, especially Japantown and the Richmond. Soft shell crab and Kaki fry (oysters) were also very good.
Parking: This is inner Richmond but with some patience can find parking on Avenues or Anza/Cabrillo/Geary.
