A true localβs gem serving up the very best of Vietnamese cuisine. Piping hot soup to warm your soul, delightfully crispy banh mi, and other classic eats. Come enjoy and donβt tell your friends π€«π

If you're scanning for a Vietnamese spot in the Richmond that balances bold flavors with comforting familiarity, Y & Y has quietly been doing its thing.
I recently visited and ordered their satay noodles, and it turned out to be one of those meals you linger over, slowing down to savor every spoonful.
What I Loved
* Depth in the broth. The satay base had a rich, nutty backbone layered with spice -- not just heat, but complexity. You could taste peanut undercurrents melding with lemongrass, garlic, and chili in a way that felt warming and bold rather than aggressive.
* Spice done right. It hit the sweet spot -- spicy enough to awaken your senses without obliterating them. And the heat built rather than dominated, which encouraged you to keep sipping.
* Noodle + texture play. The strands soaked up the broth beautifully -- slippery but not mushy. Added onions, herbs, and bits of protein gave contrast and a freshness that kept the bowl from feeling heavy.
If your goal is a bowl that feels both comforting and full of punch, the satay noodles at Y & Y are a must-order. It's a dish worth planning for -- go when you have the time to linger. After this, I definitely want to come back and try their pho and spring rolls (which others frequently recommend).

Best pho on Clement St
Came here mostly because it was a hot day and I wanted a vermicelli bowl and we also wanted the grilled Vietnamese pork chop. Both did not disappoint. The coconut water was also a great choice on a hot day because it came out ice cold. Service was fast. Bathroom was clean.

Consistently outstanding food. I have been eating there for years. Curry chicken over rice.

Order #25 was very very good especially the meat it was super tender and the broth was good too. But for order #19 (the rolls) it didnβt taste the best, and I felt like the rolls werenβt that fresh

We did a private San Francisco tour as a family and parked a bit outside in the North on a street, due to the parking situation, before visiting the Golden Gate bridge
This was one of the closest restaurants to visit and some of us haven't eaten Vietnamese before, so we wanted to try it.
From outside the restaurant looks a bit shabby and not well maintained. But inside we immediately felt welcome.
The service is great and super friendly.
The meals were served very fast and everything was super tasty.
You get cups of water on the house but I really recommend getting a Thai Mate tea too, if you like that kind of stuff.
For four people and one appetizer we ended up at ~110$ (before tip), which is definitely a fair price.
We were positively surprised in general and I really recommend trying this one out!

Theyβre on vacation, donβt waste your time
One of the few authentic viet places with alot of variety. Pho is on point and the BBQ sandwiches are fire. One of my go to spots in richmond especially on cold days.
Seating is a bit crowded on busy days as it is a small location similar to a hole in the wall.
