Maybe I ordered the wrong thing from the menu, but the food wasn’t that great. The presentation was nice, but the portion sizes felt pretty small for the price. The service was a bit awkward since the staff didn’t speak much English.

#301- 6pc sashimi combo : tuna, salmon, albacore
Tuna/salmon - mid Albacore- didn’t eat, it looks sickly ( pale meat with yellow coloration that resembled week old chicken breast.
Also, very thin cuts of fish and large portions of rice. The cuts were also sloppy like if it was cut with a ridged knife.

Recently just moved to the neighborhood and finally gave it a try for my mom's birthday. Great staff. Food is tasty and I think it is priced decently given how tough times are. Will definitely be coming back!

Love Yama and their sushi! Yama is an institution that has been in the neighborhood forever. I grew up in Lakeview and it is great to know that they are still in business. Service is stellar. The staff has always been attentive when I’ve eaten in. I once ordered for pick up and when they forgot a roll in my order (it was a hot day and they were seriously busy), the owner delivered it to my house with some complimentary gyoza.
Dishes are a little expensive for the size/quality of ingredients, but they are always offering so many new and dynamic deals and dishes all the time which keeps things exciting. I love getting text reminders about discounts too, like their %15 off online orders for International Sushi Day. They really are always reliable and a great standby.

Never been there in person, but I treat myself with Grubhub, and wow, it's absolutely HEAVENLY sashimi. Great big slabs of saki salmon, unagi, maguro Nigeria and California rolls! So, so happy. I never order anyplace else anymore. Pricey, but so, so worth it.

Had the best dinner here tonight!! My sister and I got the 49er roll, tiger roll, salmon nigiri and unagi nigiri. Must have garlic edamame- sooo goood!!! Everything was delicious and generous portions. And on top of the awesome sushi, the family is the sweetest!! Eileen is amazing- she served us and the other tables and at the same time was very organized and helpful as folks kept coming in for pick-up orders. The woman preparing the sushi was fabulous. As we said good night to leave, we started chatting with the family and they are totally adorable, very friendly and you can see and feel how much love and hard work they put into what they do.
We can see why this spot is so popular. Already planning our next visit here :) :) :) 你们辛苦了 非常感谢你们的很好努力 ～ 好好吃吃 期待下次！
