This was my first visit to Okaeri. I went there with an open mind, but the food wasn't worth the price. There are other Japanese restaurants in the city where the quality is better for $60+ per person. We ordered Ala carte, since the $95 Omakase didn't appeal to us. We tried a variety of dishes - hamachi truffle, spicy tuna roll, chicken karaage, shrimp tempura, chawamushi, and black cod. None of the dishes were unique or memorable. The service was also average. We were in the back room and the lightning is horrible for a nice birthday room felt more like the cheap school cafeteria room, with a camera right on your food and the seats, omg those seats, we all left with sore butt cheeks . No pillows nothing just a hard wooden board . Table so big you cannot stretch your arms long enough to get the food from the person sitting on front of you. Next time I'll make sure we seat inside the restaurant and in one of their regular tables....
