The best cheesecake I have ever had. Truly a real crafted piece of fine desert. You have to order ahead of time and pick up at the shop. A must have every time I am in town. I would highly recommend to any cheese cake lover.

They make one of the best cheesecakes ever... But sadly after the pandemic they are usually not open. And they only sell through Molly Stone's market.

I'm writing a delayed review and am so sad to see an institution close down! I feel lucky I finally got to go right before they closed. I bought a plain cheesecake after hearing recommendation after recommendation (and after some friends had a cheesecake taste-off where Zanze's tied for 1st place with Stonemill Matcha). We slowly enjoyed this over a week, making sure to let our slices come to room temp each time, and I loved the texture that was a perfect balance between light, creamy, and yet dense and moist. This was truly delicious!

Zanze's is a San Francisco institution that quietly has produced the best cheesecake that I've ever had. Critics say it is the best in the U.S. I totally disagree. It is the best in the world! Aside from having a soft spot in my heart for old fashioned businesses that create something great using tried and true techniques, I just loved seeing Mr. Zanze in the back working away whenever I stopped by the quaint, quiet Ingleside Terrace shop. Sad to hear that they are closing.

I just want express the sheer joy and love for this Sf institution. Sad to hear of it's closing, but happy I got to experience one of the best cheese cakes ever. I will be on the lookout for imitators but nothing will be like what you have made. Thank you so much for what you have done. RIP Zanze's. You'll have a special place in my heart, as well as many others who have had the pleasure of enjoying one of your delicious cheesecakes. Thank you Zanze's.

Sad to learn that after 42 years of bringing joy to many homes for special occasions, Zanze's will not be reopening after SIP is lifted. :( Sam's daughter announced on FB a few days ago that her dad will be shuttering his storefront on Ocean Avenue but given the circumstances, I wholeheartedly respect his decision. Health and safety first! Zanze's has always been a huge request amongst my family gatherings and/or potluck with friends. The fact that these cheesecakes are so soft that you must cut with a fish line tells you just how delicate this life's guilty pleasures is. Many times I'll walk into the store thinking that I'll just buy a small but more often than not, I leave with a large cheesecake if one is available. I always dreaded the day Sam decides to retire and I knew there will come a time that this will happen, just never expected it to be so soon and bc of COVID of all things. I seriously cannot tell you how devastated I was after hearing the news, but I totally understand. I've actually called the store a few times during COVID wondering when they will reopen so this news definitely hit hard in our household. While I will miss seeing Sam at the store and his sinfully delicious fluffy cheesecakes, I am happy to hear that he will soon be enjoying retirement life and will still be baking up his cheesecakes at his leisure. I am hoping the news is true that Zanze's cheesecakes will still be found at the Molly Stone's by Twin Peaks (635 Portola Drive aka: the old Tower Market) on occasions. You know I for one will be shopping there more often and stalking for a delivery from Sam. I know I usually don't know if the store is opened unless I call Zanze's and listen to their voicemail but hopefully, they can keep that phone line open or have a website/IG page to let his loyal customers know when there will be a delivery to Mollie Stone's. Zanze's - thanks for all the great memories! I wish Sam and his family all the best!

Cheesecake here is UNREAL. I ordered in advance for my sister's birthday since she loved it and just picked it up. It can be frozen as well which is nice if we don't devour the whole thing right away. With friends' birthdays coming up, I go back and forth between getting a cheesecake from here or a mango cake from another cake shop for my friends depending what their palette is.

Eating zanze's cheesecake must be what it's like to be really good friends with angels and they let you eat fresh baby clouds... I literally can't describe how good the cakes are with actual words. I black out with every bite so it makes me think that they are just from another world. I believe when I eat zanze's cheesecake, all my neurons are just overwhelmed with processing how tasty they are and don't have the capacity to create any memories. I'm just left firmly believing the cakes are Divine and I want More. Or maybe my mind is playing a trick on me - if it doesn't leave me any tangible memory, then I get curious and will buy more cakes to try to find out what it tastes like again... Anyway, if you haven't tried zanze, I recommend buying as many as you can. And I want to challenge you to just try and see if you can remember how it tastes after you eat - I can pretty much guarantee that your brain would tell you it was super good but I don't remember exactly how it tastes, let's have another bite!

I was finally able to try zanzes, and it is truly the best cheesecake I have ever tasted . It is more tastier than the uncle tetsu cheesecake, but not as bouncey. I called to pickup a small order for the next day , I think if you don't call to put in an order they will probably be sold out. The majority of their sales seem to be from the call in orders . The cheesecake can be frozen and thawed, so you can always order more for the future . This cheesecake is so light and easy to eat, you could easily eat an entire small cheesecake by yourself . If you want to try, I would suggest you to place an order for the day before .

I mean this in the best way, I'm so glad this business remains open, amongst a trend of SF business shuttering their doors. They have seasonal hours, but if you have a chance to order a cake from here, do it. I bought one of these cakes for my wife's birthday. I ordered it way in advance, which I advise you do. I ordered a chocolate type, and it came out fantastic. They instruct you to cut it with dental floss like string, a knife will just make it full apart. The cake is light, and creamy. The sizes may seem small but are rich in taste.

I'm not a fan of cheesecakes in general or maybe it's more I don't like the traditional NY style that's super dense. Zanze's is a super light, very flavorful cheesecake with a thin graham crust. Just enough graham to get texture and flavor without overpowering the cheesecake. I like the standard and the blueberry. Been coming here for many years and hope they're still around many years more.
