Atmosphere doesn't feel like a typical restaurant, feels more like you're visiting extended family and they are serving you some homemade food. Friendly staff, while the burrito different than you'd get at a typical Mexican food place its pretty good.
Del Mar cafe is a family owned/operated restaurant, and was exactly what I was looking for. The decor is dated, the staff is friendly, and the food is what I image (as a white woman from the northeast) home cooked Mexican comfort food should be. The food was delicious, and I was a bit shocked I cleaned my plates!
Warm, cosy, friendly atmosphere that draws a local crowd and has delicious food. Probably the best taco de lengua that I've ever had : savoury, tender and free of greasiness. Same for the taco de carne deshebrada. Crispy and tender tortilla chips served with a salty, garlicky salsa on the house. We also loved that the tostada con carne deshebrada (shredded meat) had real slices of onion and torn lettuce. Brava, señora.
