I love it. It has oysters and the miso soup is really good. Then the sushi is handmade and fresh, I recommend the spice tuna hand roll. Overall, 10/10??????

Delicious and thoughtful dishes. I mainly stick to sushi and wasn't disappointed here. The premium charashi gave generous slices and I appreciated the small chopped ginger and mushroom added to the rice.We tried a variety of fish and it was consistently melt-in-your mouth. I highly recommend the hamachi belly and sea bream - these really stuck out.The veggie tempura was light and balanced (unlike some places that either over batter or cut too thickly), and the agedashi tofu was something I didn't want to share with my partner. This place has an excellent price point for the quality of the fish. I usually eat at a couple spots in Pasadena, but this rivals them. The service was quick and our server was attentive. We will be back!

Really fresh food with great menu prices. Their premium sushi/sashimi/chirashi is such a great deal since they give you a good variety of fish with mostly the belly cuts of the fish. The hot food comes out really hot and fresh. The shrimp tempura's texture was perfect. The shrimp had the perfect bounce when biting into it and the crunch on the outside was nice and crispy. The rest of the menu is pretty diverse so there's so much to choose from. Will be trying other items next time!

One of my new favorite places for sushi. Quality sushi for not a bad price. Would highly recommend if you like fresh fish!

Hayatobi sushi! I always pass by it and i never would have thought to try it till now! Found this place spontaneously while driving by looking for a place to have dinner and it was amazing! The food was so good! I never finish my meals anywhere I go but the rolls and the food here are nothing short of amazing! The service is great they are very friendly and attentive and every single person there greets you with a warm welcome and say goodbye when you leave. And the decor inside is so beautiful will definitely go back again! Oh and They have a small parking lot we went on a weekday when it wasn't so busy after 7 pm so we had no issues.

Hayatobi Sushi is located on Rosemead Blvd. It's a standalone restaurant with it's own parking lot. The lot is relatively small, and parking can be challenging on a busy day. The restaurant itself seems to be on the larger side with plenty of tables that can accommodate a variety of groups. Servers were friendly.Chirashi 3/5 - Looked prettier than it tasted. Fish was clean, but each piece was so small. They were folded to look bigger than it was. Rice was a little mushy. Crispy rice 3/5 - Tuna didn't really have much flavor. Hard to go wrong with this dish. Nothing too standout or disappointing. Yellowtail scallion handroll 4/5 - This was probably the best part of my meal. Fish was fresh and the seaweed was crispy. My only gripe is that all the fish was at the top and I was left with all the rice after the first bite. Overall, not sure I would come back. I would say there are better options in the area but decent sushi for the area.

Honestly ever since I stumbled upon this place it's been my go to sushi place! All the cuts of fish are extremely high quality, and the pricing is just really competitive for what you get. I've traveled Japan extensively, and there are some serious authentic dishes here which are hard to find in the SGV. I challenge anyone to find a better Chirashi for the price. Highly recommend you give Hayatobi a shot - won't be disappointed it's been a favorite for all those I've introduced so far.

Good environment and good service! I love their sashimi. I will recommend the curry and to red bean ice cream, if you ask me.

Good service, I really liked the environment and design of the restaurant. Enjoyed how nice the plates and all the small details looked.

Their foods are terribly worse. I have a premium sashimi rice bowl. Their tuna are not fresh at all. The rest of the foods are tasteless. Also, their pricing is overpriced.

A super cozy little spot serving Sushi and some other Japanese comfort food options. Food is always fresh. I especially love the Chicken Katsudon and Tempura Udon. I love having this little gem of a spot near by.

You can tell this used to be a Chinese restaurant. I knew it had been, but once inside you can still tell. The interior could use a remodel, but that’s ok.The service is on point and friendly. It wasn’t very busy as we went for an early dinner. The food came out quickly and was fresh. The sushi was good. I made the mistake of ordering the curry and rice without the chicken katsu. I thought there would be some chunks of veggies or something in the curry but there wasn’t. It was just the curry sauce. I won’t do that again. They currently have some 1 year anniversary specials for dine in that are pretty good. There is parking on both sides of the establishment.

This is my family's go-to sushi place, and during happy hour they have an amazing selection of dishes at a good price! Most of the waiters are incredibly friendly, and it's never too busy that you can't find a seat. This is a hidden gem in the SGV.FOOD [4.5/5]* Spicy Yellowtail Roll [6/5]I would highly recommend this roll! We ordered one and loved it so much that we ordered two more. It's a perfect blend of spicy (it is pretty spicy), fatty, and fresh. The portion size for $4 during happy hour is also a pretty good steal.* Spicy Tuna Roll [4/5] This was a pretty standard roll. If you like spicy tuna, you'll like this roll. It's well made and comes with a good amount of rice and cucumbers to balance out the fish. * Tempura Udon [5/5]My mom always gets this dish -- it's her favorite. I highly recommend asking for the tempura dipping sauce on the side (they don't include it for some reason, but it's really good for the tempura). The udon broth itself is very good and tastes very authentic and delicious, and the dish comes with a selection of various tempura that are equally as good. * Various nigiri and sashimi [3/5]We also usually order a variety of nigiri and sashimi, but they're pretty average quality. I would also say they're actually pretty pricey for the quality that you get, even though we paid for the happy hour price. If you're looking to get full, I would recommend going with heavier items like the udon and hand rolls as opposed to the nigiri or sashimi. * Oysters [4/5]We've ordered a couple of their oyster selections and they're pretty good! I've personally tried both the baked and raw oysters, and they match up pretty well with most other oysters I've eaten at high-end places. SERVICE [4.5/5]The chefs and waiters are amazing. They're very friendly and attentive, and if you need anything, it's very easy to flag someone down and ask. We did have a somewhat unpleasant experience with one waitress who was petty standoffish and rude (e.g. she slammed glasses of water onto the table and immediately walked away, and rolled her eyes at my mom when she asked a question about a dish), but we'll chalk it up to her having a bad day (also, my family is too nice to say anything haha).AMBIENCE [4/5]Every time I visit Hayatobi, the decorations get prettier. They have beautiful lanterns on the ceiling, a wish tree that you can attach written notes to, and the place is never too busy or crowded. It's my family's go-to sushi place for a good reason. :)
