The prices here are great!!! They sell by the tray and is Vietnamese Mom approved! Tiny little mom and pop place, but you can pop in a grab food in seconds. Heads up on parking though, it's a small lot and is a little tight.

They make the BEST hanh phi in San Jose. We only come here for Hanh Phi. It's crispy, fragrant, not too oily and lasts for months. Now that I live in Vegas, I have to buy it in bulk to take it back with me every time I come to San Jose. We used to buy it in Vietnam, but BBT makes it so much better!

Great for gatherings and potlucks! A fresh tray can be easily ordered through the phone for pick up, or you can also swing by the plaza to make your order. It's always a hit with hosts and guests when I bring a tray over. Bánh bèo are small, steamed rice cakes topped with dried shrimp, mung bean paste, and green onion. It's enjoyed with nước chấm, a fish dipping sauce. I love how bite sized and savory they are! There is no sit down area to eat, so it's pick up and go. The parking lot is a bit small, but there are some assigned parking spaces for the business.

I love this place! It's a hole in the wall for banh beo. This is my go to place to order banh beo in bulk to bring to potlucks. You won't find another place with such tasty banh beos for their price. They are a bit smaller than what I'm used to but trust me, they go a long way. I got 100 for $18 and even with everyone eating we still had leftovers. Do not underestimate the huuuge tray they give you. The 50 piece one would have def worked too. I find the easiest way is to call earlier and give them a time for pick up. Also from all the times I come, it seems they don't speak much english here so remember to get some help from your viet friend!

Really good prices and easy parking lot. Banh Beo always comes out fresh. It's sold in trays and super convenient to stop by on the way home.

I'm a huge fan of Banh Beo and I haven't been able to find a place as good as the banh beo I get in Santa Ana, and this place is for one, such a great deal, and second, super authentic and delicious. They're cash only and super simple storefront with just one guy interacting with customers. Menu is straightforward and prices are super affordable. 50 could definitely feed 2 people which means it's only $4.50 per person!

$9 for 50 banh beo! Amazing price and fast service. They take cash only. No place to sit, take out only. Great place to grab some banh beo with no frills.

You know, as much as I'd love to say that it was someone's recommendation or the awesome reviews that brought us here, I'd be lying if I said either was the case. Rather, it was a fortuitous series of mistakes - turning the wrong way out of a parking lot, not realizing it for about ten blocks, and then missing my first chance to make a U-turn to get back on track - that led my friend to seeing the signage for Banh Tolan and wanting to stop in. I've said in the past that there's nothing like randomly stumbling upon great finds, but even I have to admit this takes it to an entirely different level! Tucked away at the back of an incredibly small shopping complex, Banh Beo Tolan is easy to miss if you're not familiar with it or using GPS (or happen to find it by chance...). The place is pretty small and is purely a to-go business, though they're still taking orders from their doorway thanks to COVID. The menu is similarly modest, listing only a handful of items - their namesake banh beo, banh day, banh it tran, banh bot loc, and banh hoi. However, based on the photos on Yelp, every one of them looked so good! Since we had just finished lunch and were actually heading to another eatery to pick up food, I didn't get as many things as I otherwise might have and went with just their BANH BEO (Steamed Rice Cakes with Dried Shrimp, Green Onions, and Mung Beans). It was also a little intimidating to see that everything comes in "bulk" quantities (I got the smallest portion - 50 pieces for $12)...until you realize each piece is literally bite-sized. The rice cakes themselves are soft and tender, the dried shrimp added a savory punch, and the mung bean gave it some nuttiness. For me, the only thing missing are the fried pork rinds that some places will include, but it's fine. Just drizzle some of the accompanying nuoc cham (fish sauce) and you are good to go! The one thing that I super appreciate about Banh Beo Tolan is how well they packaged our orders for us. Not only was each piece neatly arranged inside the take out box, but they also tightly wrapped the container of nuoc cham, so there's little concern about it spilling in the bag, let alone your car. If Banh Beo Tolan was located in SF (or just anywhere closer than San Jose), I'd come back all of the time, whether to bring to get togethers with friends or even just to have as a snack in the fridge (they reheat super well, whether lightly steamed or microwaved). But alas, I'll have to wait for my next trip down here to get another order or to try their Banh It Tran!

CASH ONLY PEOPLE!This place is fabulous. I purchased the lowest amount of the freshest and tasties banh beo from the nice ladies behind the counter. $9 will get you 50 pieces ...but I could only finish half. They also generously give you a big amount of nuoc mam. Which is great. The parking here is incredibly small, so get here early for your order.

Unless I am craving in a restaurant, I will never get Banh Beo elsewhere. These little guys, yes they are smaller versions than what you'd get at the restaurants, are seasoned so well. I really taste the fried shallots and each banh beo has a slight indentation where the toppings settle. The toppings are kept in its place. Every bite is banh beo heaven. Tips for newbies - As appetizer each person can eat about 25 pcs - Mung bean on the side is always safer - Go next door and get the Banh Cuon and fish cake to make it a complete meal - If you think you're good with 50 pcs, get 100... trust me - Service is quick here so don't be intimidated if you see 3-4 people lining up What's banh beo? You can Google it but in my own words and not ChatGPT they are little flat rice cups that has a savory flavor due to its toppings of dried shrimp, green onions/scallions, fried shallots and in some places they add pork skin. They are great for appetizers at parties and are great accompaniments to other Vietnamese rice roll dishes such as banh cuon.

This is THE SPOT to get banh beo in San Jose! I'm from San Francisco so there's not really any place that sells this there so I always crave it and need to stop by here when I'm in SJ! I found this place while searching on yelp for a store that sells boxes/party trays of banh beo as I was introduced to it at a vietnamese party and fell in love with it! It's one of my favorite Vietnamese dish! Tried this place out and it was so delicious so now I come every so often to buy a box when I crave Banh beo. This place is CASH ONLY so come prepared. The staff here speak Vietnamese and little to no english, but it's pretty simple to order. I don't know how to speak Viet but I just pointed to the 50 piece on the menu and was able to order just fine. They're also so nice and friendly! Highly recommend that you come and try it out! Super affordable too!

My absolute favorite place to buy banh beo. The place itself is really small and can be hard to miss as the plaza is tucked away. The banh beos are bite sized and you can purchase as a plate of 50 or trays of 150+. They come with or without all of the fixings (green bean, dried shrimp, green onion). Highly recommend for a delicious cheap treat!
