DO NOT COME HERE! We ordered the crab stir-fry noodles after seeing photos on Yelp that showed plenty of diced crab meat. When the dish arrived, there were only two measly shreds of crab in it.
When we asked if they could bring some extra crab on the side they brought small imitation crab, and then the manager came over. Based on her expression and tone, I understood that she was gaslighting my friend in Vietnamese. Left my friend upset and shaking. She was extremely rude, and the rest of the staff were not very friendly either.

Blue Monkey Cafe is a unique restaurant, first time visited this restaurant was a very pleasant experience and food was delicious. Our recent experience was ordering food for pick up and it was the same quality if you were to eat in.

Ordered a large Bún Đậu Mắm Tôm and large Bún Chả Hà Nội, my wife and I both tasted this dish when we visited VN and Blue Monkey did and excellent job in transporting us back to our VN trip. The type of ingredients and the freshness of the dishes were on point. The portion they do no skimp out which we appreciated. You can tell this place does take pride in the dishes they make by the presentation and quality they select and it shows.

If you are seeking that unique dish you had in Vietnam, Blue Monkey Cafe is worth trying, what stands out about this restaurant is that they have manage to capture the main regions of Vietnam with the dishes they offer very well, representing Northern, Central and Southern cuisine which is a fresh take on the many “standardized” Viet restaurants in SJ.

Take a peek at their menu, you will see dishes not commonly offered at other restaurants.
For sure we will be back for the Bún Chả Hà Nội and the friendly service. Keep up the great work Blue Monkey!

The seafoods are fresh and well prepared, the flavors are rich and balanced, and the dishes come out quickly after we order them.

Casual Vietnamese food with a lot of seafood specialties and very efficient service. One of the best and most popular restaurants in this competitive Viet plaza!

I’ve been here a few times and tried a lot of their menu and everything is consistently good. However, the popular item is definitely A1 which is a huge platter with vermicelli, pork belly, fish cake, shrimp paste, fresh veggies to assemble yourself in a rice paper wrapper. The small portion is good for one person, and the larger ones are great to share with a table.

The seafood is another popular option. Super fresh and cooked perfectly. My favorites are the razer clams or the scallop. They come with a spicy green sauce and seasoning on top that really highlight the fresh flavor of the seafood.

Some of my personal favorites are the turmeric fish (A3) which is a fragrant and lightly fried fish which you wrap in rice paper and the crispy chicken that comes with purple rice. Honestly you can’t go wrong with ordering anything, the whole menu is good.

English communications are limited but the menus are in English with a lot of nice photos for me to point at :)

DO NOT COME HERE. I came here today after seeing this place all over social media. The service was beyond awful. We were seated, ordered, and then completely forgotten the entire time. Not once did anyone check on us, no refills, no “how’s everything,” nothing.

When I went up to pay, the older lady at the counter didn’t say a single word, not a “hi,” not a “thank you,” nothing. She just handed me the receipt and turned away. It was honestly shocking and so rude. You can tell they don’t care one bit about their customers here. This interaction pissed me off the most. Not even a thank you?

The food was actually good, but good food means nothing when the people serving it act like you’re invisible. Spend your hard earned money somewhere else where they actually appreciate your business , where you’ll at least get treated with respect. Wish I had just stuck eating at Buon Me instead which is close to her. Food is similar but at least they have good service over there.

This place gives you a taste of Northern, Central and Southern Vietnamese cooking all in one place. The items offered on the menu looked pretty similar to the ones we saw in Vietnam. We joked that this place is legit if there's no rice plates or vermicelli bowls on the menu. However, when the food came out, it did taste pretty close to what we had at some places in Vietnam!

The dish that stood out to us the most was the Bún Chả Hà Nội, basically a deconstructed vermicelli bowl on a platter. The grilled minced pork patties reminded me of Brodard's nem and the grilled pork was veryyyy well marinated with lots of flavor. THIS is the dish we would come back for! That and the fish sauce lol, which was so good, you could almost say it's drinkable lol.

Service can be a hit or miss and there's definitely a language barrier. None of the servers spoke English and we ended up having to point to the items on the menu.

* Bánh Mì Cháo Bộ Lúc Lắc
* Ốc Móng Tay - Razor Clams
* Bánh Bèo Thịt Băm
* Bún ốc Hà Nội
* Bún Chả Hà Nội (highly recommend!)
* Bánh Canh Tôm Giò Heo (highly recommend!)
* Drinks: Kumquat Iced Tea w/ Salted Plum (very refreshing) & Strawberry Lemon Iced Tea (very sour)

This was my first time here, and I’m not coming back. The food was nothing special. They already charged tips for nine people, and when my uncle came to pay, they showed up the tips to ask for more? When you automatically charge tips for parties of six people and more, you can’t show up again to ask for more tips. I called back to tell them to refund the extra tip charge.
