If you want really flavorful and savory Viet baked goods, you NEED to visit CD Bakery & Deli.FIRST: THE BANH MI. I live in the 626 (SGV in LA) so when I went up to visit family up in San Jose, you know I'm gonna search for the best banh mi. Let me tell you: their banh mi dac biet--which is my go to for fair comparisons--was *chef's kiss*!! & I went to 3 other places during that trip up including Duc Houng and Dakao Sandwiches. No offense to those places cause they were already REALLY good, but then I tried CD Bakery's banh mi and the bread was A+ (light and crisp on the outside but not too much where it'll cut your mouth and soft on the inside but keeps the filling all together) and the meat inside was flavorful, but not too salty. They also loaded on the mayo and the liver pate, which I look for in my quest for the perfect banh mi. They also have the perfect amount of pickled veggies and cilantro to balance the savoriness.I also tried their pate so (Vietnamese puff pastry meat pie), which was one of the best that I've had. They're nice and flaky with a perfect meat:bread ratio. Other bakeries have too little meat or their meat is overly salty.Besides the banh mi, another "Must Have" are their sesame balls. They have 3 different flavors: yellow/mung bean, taro, or red bean. My wife LOVES the red bean and yellow bean so we got 10 of each before heading back to LA haha.We also got a gallon of their freshly squeezed sugar cane juice. Make sure to get some calamansi squeezed on top! Adds a bit of tartness and balance to the sweetness. Perfect drink for a hot day (or any day for that matter)!Best of all was the service. The owners (husband and wife) treat everyone like family as they are a family business. I'm pretty sure their kids work there too. So support this mom & pop!One thing I do regret is not getting their cafe sua da (Vietnamese iced coffee), as I saw multiple people after me order and receive their drinks. Next time!Good to know: Accepts cards. Plenty of free parking. Tremendous value for money.

This place has yummy Asian treats such as mini sesame balls with fillings such as taro, mung beans or red beans. They are delicious. Other baked-daily items are banh da lợn, bánh khúc, bánh bao, gỏi cuốn, xôi. Their sandwiches are very good, too. Oh, let's not forget they sell fresh nước mía, too. Very nice family owners with good customer service consistently.Come and try something today. It will be a pleasant surprise discovery for you.

The people there are really nice. I remember coming here when I was very little and my mom would buy my siblings and I, iced sugar cookies. I come back and it looks so very different, but I ordered the nouc mia and was so happy.

This is my go to spot for Banh Mi sandwiches and sesame balls! The sesame balls here are unmatched, they are the perfect blend of soft and crunchy. They have Red bean, mung bean, and taro flavors, i love them all! They make fresh sugar cane juice as well which is delicious.I'm vegan so i always opt for the Vegetable/tofu sandwich, which is SO good. It has a mixture of marinated shredded mushrooms and tofu along with fermented veggies, cilantro, jalapeño. (Just be sure to ask for NO butter if you're vegan as it contains egg)The staff are very friendly and helpful when it comes to my questions regarding vegan options, which they have a lot of!

This review is based on the Vietnamese sandwiches (banh mi), pate chaud (meat pies), nuoc mia (sugarcane drinks), banh bo nuong, and customer service. My boyfriend always gets me banh mi dac biet to go from here. I finally got to go inside and check out the interior and ambiance. The place definitely has a regular homey feeling when you're inside walking around and talking to the ladies working. I love getting the banh mi from here because they don't skimp when it comes to sauce inside -- the pate and butter. The sauce was oozing out of my banh mi when I took a bite. The pate chaud is my other favorite thing to order from here. I like to order extra to take home to snack on. The nuoc mia was good for what it is at a banh mi store. Customer service here was friendly and attentive :)
