I heard this was a very traditional northern Vietnam restaurant to eat at. I don't really have a frame of reference, but I'll take their word for it. We got mainly catfish soup and a broiled cat fish as well. I thought it was pretty good. It's nice to eat out and eat like it's your mother's cooking rather than trying all these restaurants and them having a thing that separates them from the rest. I thought it was very refreshing eating here. Good food, good ambience, great service lol. 8/10.

Quite fancy restaurant. The caramelized spareribs are super tasty and there were a decent amount of servers and not too crowded.

Great place for a family lunch/dinner. A variety of authentic Vietnamese dishes, something for everyone. The canh chua hot pot was filled with flavor and lots of catfish. The service was great!

If you're in search of authentic Vietnamese cuisine, this is the spot. Opting for family-style sharing at lunch or dinner offers the best experience of traditional Vietnamese dishes.

One of my favorite place to go for Authentic VN family style dinner. Their cooking tastes close to how my mom's cooking was and she's passed away 3 yrs.ago. The place is clean and their servers are attentive.

Great food for a great price. Service is great too.. They have a good amount of homeless problem but not to bad & not the restaurant fault tho, they could only do so much about it.

I dined at Cao Nguyen Restaurant in San Jose and tried their fried fish dish. It was absolutely delicious! The fish was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The portion size was generous, and the dish was served with a side of fresh vegetables and dipping sauce, which complemented the fish perfectly. The service at the restaurant was friendly. Overall, I would recommend their fry fish dish to anyone looking for a tasty seafood meal.

The food I ordered was bad, and when I tried it, I really disliked it, therefore I wouldn't go back to this establishment again. The service was also terrible and the staff was rude. I want to remark about the service before I mention the meal, which was poor. I tried using a napkin to dab at the soup I had spilt a little of (it's a very small serving shown in the picture). Although I didn't ask my server to clean it, she made a rude noise in frustration when she noticed and cleaned the small spot of soup while I was still eating. She didn't offer to bring out a new bowl of soup either. In terms of food I ordered shaking beef with red rice, iced Thai tea, and 2 small bowls of soupThe shaking been was not tasty. As shown, the meat was burnt and overcooked; of poor quality. It was completely devoid of any juice or flavour. When there was supposed to be flavour to make the dish what it was, it just tasted like burnt beef with no flavor. The meat was cooked horribly and was not at all soft.Due to what appeared to be a language issue, I twice asked for red rice while placing my food order. It was only a Vietnamese-speaking workplace. Although I don't speak Vietnamese, my Vietnamese-speaking father I was with told the three servers that I wanted red rice with my dinner, but they ended up giving me white rice. They didn't understand still and brought out white rice. I did want red rice, my dad had to confirm. How is food going to be enjoyed by locals when there is a barrier preventing them from being able to communicate in English? It would be wonderful if they employed someone who knew English so that this experience is pleasurable for them too. Anyhow, they sent out my overcooked meat on a single platter, followed by my rice on another single platter way too long after. Most places serve shaking beef with these items together. When they realized they had prepared the rice incorrectly after they knew about it, the male and female server who were involved didn't even offer an apology. They brought out the white rice while maintaining a furious expression. They made red rice for at least 15 minutes, by which time I had finished my beef. The rice was the decent item I had ordered and while it was okay, it was not as soft or good as rice from other restaurants. The iced Thai tea was disappointing. I find it surprising that this establishment got iced Thai tea wrong, and I advise them to remove boba from the tea on their menu. Their Thai tea contains transparent boba, but this ingredient is rarely used while making this beverage. Most people who order this drink aren't expecting there to be boba and it should be available as an added topping. In addition to the boba that I had to drink around, the beverage itself lacked the distinctive flavor of Thai tea and tasted more like milk with added sugar there was no other taste. Although they were over staffed with at least 4 people by the entrance while I was the only table at the restaurant they did not pay attention to me when I wanted a drink. I had to wait a long time to order my drink. The soup tasted bad and I couldn't eat it at all. This soup was the worst thing I ordered, so please do not order it. I took a sip of this soup, and it was by far the worst soup I'd ever eaten in terms of taste. Overall the soup was not enjoyable at all and it tasted contaminated. I wouldn't recommend it.

Found this place on Yelp when trying to find a good Vietnamese restaurant for dinner after having fun at nearby Round1. When we walked into the restaurant we thought we were at the wrong place because it was the fanciest looking Vietnamese restaurant we have been to. It's a very nice, bright and clean space. The prices were also very reasonable and the food quality and taste were good. The portion sizes were average except the caramelized catfish dish seemed to be on the smaller size. Overall this place is good and worth trying!

A wonderful family restaurant for a lot of tractional dishes for dinner with rice. Very fresh crab for pepper salted or stir fry with ginger why fresh just when you order the crab they literally run across the plaza to the seafood market and buy the live crab and run back to the chef to prepare . For two people you can get the hu tieu dish best in town in my opinion and the egg rolls is yummy! Definitely recommend this restaurant if you are an out of towner looking for a local restaurant to eat. By the way always have wonderful severa and very tentative to your needs .
