Overall this was a solid weeknight date spot. The dahi papri chaat is delish! Creamy, runny yogurt + super fresh chutneys + crisp papris. Other dishes to try include a paneer pesto puff and pav bhaji. Though you can get other really good pav bhaji in the Bay, this was also very good.

This place is inside the sofa market. We ordered bun maska, bun maska with jam, dahi sev puri, loaded Bombay sandwich Aloo tikki Sandwich and hot gulab jamun. Everything was super delicious especially I loved the dahi sev puri, it had perfect balance of flavors and texture was firm and not soggy at all.We also tried their elaichi and adrak chai unfortunately we did not quite like it.

I ordered the dahi sev puri chaat which was great. Also got an indian chai which was really bad, like seriously this just tasted like regular tea, do better guys. will go back for the chaat and to try other food options. don't waste your money on the chai.

The combo plate came on a small plastic tray with small portion sizes. It looked like an elementary school cafeteria meal. You can tell it wasn’t made fresh. I only got 2 slices of chicken in the curry.I’ve spent the similar amounts at other Indian restaurants and had more and fresher food.

As most of the reviews has mentioned the location us little weird, but once we found it we don't have any complaints.The food was just amazing and people serving were very nice and friendly.We tried bun muska chai, dahi puri and bombay sandwich, gulab jamun dessert, everything was above our expectation.You must try bun muska and chai.Also, they made all of these item Jain, without onion/garlic/potatoes. There is more meat on a single chicken thigh than I received for $13.Rice is $3.50 more.Nothing is fresh, just microwaved.I know downtown is expensive, but how much are they really saving on chicken meat and dishwashing?

We tried Grilled Bombay Sandwich, 5 flavoured pani puri, sprouts bhel and papdi chaat. We especially loved the sandwich, papdi chaat and pani puri. Really good and bold flavours.The lady who makes your food is really sweet too and took our order even though we went 5 mins before they were closing.Would highly recommend for authentic chaats and sandwiches.

Desi Express was in a weird location first of all, inside a building then sharing the space with other restaurants. A little hard to find for the first time. Then food was good especially the bombay sandwich and the unique guava flavor pani puri which is quite rare in US. The quality was also excellent and if you are fan of sandwichs, chatt. It is worth visiting.
