About DESI EXPRESS (Inside SoFA Market)

Located inside SoFA Market in downtown San Jose, Desi Express is a hidden gem for Indian street food. It is a good place to grab a quick meal to go or dine in on the tables and chairs inside. The food is served in paper and plastic containers with plastic utensils, similar to several food trucks that instead had stalls. There were several selections of different types from Indian, Japanese, Brazilian, and Chinese. Portions may be on the smaller side but price is reasonable for the area. The Samosa Chaat, Veg Puff, Flavoured Golgappa, and classic Indian Masala Chai are spot on and full of flavor. The Dahi Puri Sev is flavorful and well balanced. The chaat is an experience, with eclectic textures and flavors. They also offer catering; the grazing table was nicely setup with the theme of the party, and all guests enjoyed the bite sized portions. Parking is paid street parking, and they take Apple Pay. Most of the people eating looked like students from SJSU or people who attended an event at the conference center.

All products specially Makhani Masala and Rojana Masala give authentic Dhaba Style taste to everything from Paneer Makhani , Mix Veg to Daal Tadka and lot more!
Desi express is great for a quick bite downtown and catering. We love their dahi sev puri and paneer curry. They have catered two events for us and the staff is always super responsive and the portions are generous. I wish their palak paneer and vegetable biryani were available at SOFA market!
Good place to grab a quick meal to go or dine in on the tables and chairs inside. Portions may be on the smaller side but price is reasonable for the area. Imagine several food trucks but they instead had stalls to serve their food. There were several selections of different types from Indian, Japanese, Brazilian, and Chinese I think.
