“Tell you what, this made me very happy. A Dominican restaurant in the Bay Area, is exactly what we needed. Geny saw an opportunity/a problem and she is finding a solution. If you go, have a conversation with her and here all the wonderful things she is planning to support the local Dominicans and their families.
Okay, now the food:
We ordered so much food cause we wanted to really try it out. We ordered La Bandera Dominicana (rice, beans and your choice of chicken), mofongo with grilled chicken, mangu with the 3 golpes (salami, eggs and fried cheese), La Fritura Combinada (a whole bunch of fried appetizers with some fried plantains) and for drinks: coffee and Dominican Soda.
Everything was delicious. If I closed my eyes, I would've thought i was in Dominican Republic. Especially when they started putting the music up. The flavors of all the food, it was original flavors (come to find out she ships things from the motherland over here and makes perfect sense).
The serving size are HUGE!! And we could've technically shared most of it but now we know. I will be going back for the fried fish cause someone else ordered it and it looked AMAZING!!
And before we left, we talked to Geny and she mentioned she even imports the Dominican Beer, Presidente. We had 3 of them and I was so happy. I will always support her cause she literally brought home to home.
