Perhaps this place had experienced a time of popularity and great food and service. Not anymore. Came in at 5:30 pm and the restaurant was empty. Only the bar was busy by local retirees.
I think I might know why they're not experiencing their glory days.
Firstly, in a time of inflation, it's understood that prices will go up. Fine but you raise the prices and reduce the amount of meat so for $30 I got a handful of bagged greens, a few white dots of feta and a few pieces tiny squares of tomatoes and some seed oil without lemon or herbs. No feta, no peppers, no olives and not even romaine. I saw a salad pic from a review just 6 months ago and it included all of the ingredients but not on my salad today. Also no pitas or tzaziki is included with the Greek gyro salad. I had to order an extra order of gyro because what they offer you would not be registered as protein in your body. I regret this, every bite of the gyro contained pieces of cartilage or something unswallowable and had to spit it out. Judge for yourself from the pic of the "gyro."

Purely breakfast food wise it was pretty solid.
Normal, nothing is amazing but it's breakfast food so it's find.

Their chicken wings however was cold do that was pretty bad.

Overall breakfast alone it is fairly priced and worth a visit if local.

Their Greek Lemon Soup was excellent and full of flavor. Now, let's talk about the amazing Mushroom Burger. For the 1st time in, I don't know how many years my burger here was cooked to the exact temperature I ordered! It was delicious, and most importantly, not overcooked!
In addition to the great burger and soup, the service was quick, friendly, and accurate. Give them a try if you're in Willow Glen, or the San Jose area. They may not look like much more than a Diner, but I'm sure you will be extremely happy once you have given them a chance to Wow you!

I have eaten here many times and enjoyed it. It has been a year since my last visit. I ordered the Chicken Gyro. Chicken strips were dry. The so called Tziki. (Sp) sauce was a thick glob of sour cream. Didn’t quite taste the Tz sauce. The chicken lemon soup was “Off”. But I did not eat it. I was surprised at the change in the food. New cooks, new owners??

Parking: I ate outside.

Second time I enter this place and I realize that they are still rude and do not have cordiality with the people we come to

So disappointed!!!!! John’s used to be such an excellent restaurant. It used to serve hearty tasty and authentic Greek food. Unfortunately, the food now is absolutely AWFUL! Do NOT BELIEVE it when they say they serve Greek Food. Trust me, what they served is NOT Greek food . Their Gyro plate was awful. For $18.00 they served what looked like a shaved shoe sole, burned and tasteless. What they served didn’t even get close to being a gyro. On top of it they served the worst imitation of what Greeks call Τζατζίκι but which was more like sour cream mixed with unknown spices….and for $18.00 you didn’t even get a side of fries. John’s food is beyond disgusting, it’s over priced and the environment is nothing like it used to be.

What made it worse, however, was that no one cared that their food was so disappointing. When I was approached about my meal I shared my utter disappointment with the server who told me they were sorry. Most restaurants send a manager to ask what went wrong and what they could do to make things better. Here, no one came. No one cared.

And then, after it was over, the bill had an extra “surcharge”. I guess they expected i should pay even more for the privilege of horrible food and lousy service. Never again.

Save yourself the disappointment. Go somewhere else to eat. No matter where you go it will be better than what you’ll get at John’s. So so sad to see what was once such a great restaurant totally fall apart.
