Friendly, homey establishment. Prices and portions are really generous! We ordered two bentos and it fed our family of 3 for two meals. Teriyaki salmon, tempura, and sushi are all fresh and made to order. Would have like a bit more refinement on the tempura and poke. Definitely worth going to!!

MY FAVORITE JAPANESE RESTAURANT. YOU DON'T GO FOR THE AMBIANCE, But THE FOOD IS FRESH AND TASTY. MY FAVORITE IS SPICY CHICKEN TERIYAKI AND CALIFORNIA ROLL. CAN'T WAIT UNTIL KAITA REOPENS!

We were in Japantown and decided to come here and were very happy with the decision. I ordered the pork cutlet with curry and my wife had the hamachi collarbone special. The cutlet was crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The curry was spicy and went well with the pork and rice. The hamachi was also pretty good. It was both savory and salty going well with the rice and fried oysters. Yet it was the sweet corn croquette that was simply spectacular. It was like the best harsh brown you had had a baby with the best corn beard you ever had. It was crispy, savory, and sweet all at the same time. I really loved it and will probably get three of those next time. Definitely recommend this place when coming to SJ Japantown.

This is by far my favorite restaurant in Japantown. It's very small, intimate, and the decor is very basic, and the food is very, very good. The sushi is always fresh and flavorful, with nice portion sizes. Their tempura is the best - delicate batter and not at all greasy, and the ingredients are always very fresh. They make a particularly good teriyaki, with great flavor and juicy, tender chicken. Their seaweed salad is also great. They've got a good selection of sake, and even their house sake is quite good. Staff are always excellent - they're often young people, friendly, capable, and efficient. I've never had a bad experience here. It's not a date night choice, nor a working lunch spot - it's an old-fashioned, country style Japanese restaurant, with an extensive menu, both English and Japanese. Please don't go here if you're not looking to be pleased with simple, basic, delicious Japanese food. This place is a comfortable, wonderful neighborhood restaurant, and deserves to be appreciated for exactly what it is.

I love this place the most out of all of the Japantown restaurants. It is nice balance between fresh wholesome food, friendly service, price, and warm small atmosphere. The specials board always has something exciting as well.

Love this mom and pop Japanese place in the heart of Japan Town. Love their sakura rice bowl on their special. This time we got 2 different rice bowls. One with eel and one with fried pork chop

I love this restaurant. It's a real family style Japanese restaurant that makes me feel like I'm in Japan. The food quality is soooo good. I've really been missing it with the Covid-19 shelter in place order and placed a to-go order today. I was really looking forward to the food I missed and I was not disappointed at all. They have a more limited menu of course but the quality and flavor was still their usual high standard. I will continue supporting them and I hope many of their customers remember them and support them too so they can be there when we come out of this.

There are a few great establishments in Japantown for japanese food and depending on my craving, I'll go to one of them. For Kaita, I go here when I feel like sushi along with a home cooked meal. The menu here is quite extensive and the sushi is fresh. Kinda reminds me of a whole in the wall that has great food since the outside isn't memorable but the food is.

Another of my travel rotations is to try something in San Jose Japan town, first and last time here Spider Roll: 3.5 stars Toro: 4.5 stars Combo dinner Salad was below par Miso: 4 stars Katsu: 3 stars, the pork was over done Sashimi / Tempura: 3 stars, tempura was a bit soggy, sashimi was bland

Food and service were great. It was a bit warm inside as hvac doesn't seem to be on. But since closure of Curry House chain, I craved Japanese curry and this place did the job in serving delectable Japanese curry dish.
