Been wanting to come here for awhile, and finally made it to this side of town! Something so simple turned out soooo yummy! I ended up getting the Combo with The Original and Chicken Skins. Next time, I'll just stick to The Original ala carte. The chicken skins were just ok, some pieces were stale. Don't be fooled though when you start working on your Chicken Plate - it looks a little on the small side, but it fills you up!! I like to pour some of the KMG Sauce (crack sauce) over the whole plate, then add some of the Ginger Sauce to each bite. Even the breast pieces of the chicken were juicy! I could probably eat this every day haha.

When I opened my to go bag I saw a fly floating in my egg (that I paid extra for). I was so disgusted. What’s even worse is that this went through two people, and nobody bothered to change it. Avoid this place at all costs.

This place has been hit or miss. Today was a miss. I ordered the original, and both the white meat and dark meat were tough and overcooked. The rice was a bit saltier than usual and mushy. Usually it's not so many things off at once. Unfortunately, I will have to stick to Chicken meets rice for my hainan chicken fix.

Staff said it'd be a 10-15 minute wait. 30 minutes later, nothing. I asked for a refund, and they were able to issue it *without the tip back*.The staff person remarked, "Well, you could have waited for your order."So I just paid for terrible service? I'll be calling my bank to get the remainder back.Edit: Two days laterI was able to go through my bank to get a full refund. A representative of the business eventually reached out to offer apologies, a certificate and that they were looking into the situation. I felt I was able to convey my grievances about the situation to them properly.I've updated the star rating to reflect they've reached out and provided a resolution, but it's still unknown if the feedback will lead to revised employee practices around how they should handle beyond-longer-than-stated-wait-times and partial refunds.

I was hitting an ATM in this shopping center and it was approaching the dinner hour. Lots of options on all 4 corners of this busy intersection, almost all chains tho. I decided to give this small chain a whirl as I haven't tried it yet.Super minimalist inside and seemed like most of their business is take-out or delivery pick-ups, quite on par with the 2020's. I've been to Chicken Meets Rice and What the Cluck for this exact same concept, but I found the other 2 to be more to my taste and style. The Original ($15ish/3*) Straight Khao Mun Gai (Thai version) of Hainan Chicken and Rice. Let's do the breakdown. The Chicken (3.5*) The Original has both white and dark poached chicken meat with the skin. It is super basic but that is the charm to the dish. It will either be comforting or super plain depending if you grew up with this or not. This is comfort food for me.The thigh pieces were just fine, no complaints there. But the breast slices were definitely on the drier side compared to the other 2 places I had tried. So on a curve, this fell on the bottom. The Rice (3*) The rice here also did not do anything for me. Kinda wetish, kinda leftover-ish. Not horrible cuz I ended up eating everything, just something I ain't compelled to repeat. The Sauce (3*) Ok I'm more of simple scallion/ginger condiment (Hainan style) guy and it seems this place only offers their Thai version, which is very bold and assertive. It has soy, maybe some soybean paste, lots of garlic, sugar, ginger and maybe something spicy. Their version is actually quite legit as if you like bold flavors, it will not disappoint. I just like a more sublte approach. The Broth (4*) I think I liked this more than the other components. Not artificial tasting. Chalking this up as glad I tried but will probably be a one and done. Unless I try or find out about another item to try. Which is actually quite probable. Door not shut.

With the summer heat, my manager and I couldn't wait to dine in and eat, but instead we dined outside. Heard great things about this restaurant chain. Must be our luck. No AC. No ice!!! Chicken was decent, but not what I expected. Looked like old chicken that was just thrown into the deep fryer to heat up and serve. Broth was decent, but not your authentic chicken broth for sure. I'll definitely try another location, but for sure don't plan on going back to this place.

Rooster and rice are one of my favorite fast food at the mall. Simple and tasty ! The rice is so fragrant and the chicken is so tender, the food here reminds me of my childhood.

Rude unprofessional cashier rolling her ugly eyes cause we wanted to eat inside. She also had what appears to be her daughter sleeping on the chairs. After taking our orders, she went back to the dining area to sit and play on her phone.Besides the terrible service, the food was OK. Definitely not a 4 star. It's like a 1.5 star. Rice had no flavor. Broth was VERY oily. Chicken was over cooked and tastes plain.

Despite what other reviews say, I actually really appreciate the simplicity and flavors of this meal. I come here often to get togo and have never eaten inside the restaurant. I always place my order ahead of time on yelp and walk in to pick up which makes its very quick and easy. I appreciate this because there's never any parking when I go. I prefer the original chicken rather than the fried one because the chicken is juicer and more soft compared to the fried version. I recommend this place if you're looking for a place to get togo!

The combination of chicken and rice is a classic meal staple in many sense, it's a comfort meal for me - something simple, yet flavorful. This place is very bright and clean with ample seating available (order and then sit). Looks to be family run as there was a child doing a little coloring activity on a tablet at the counter, gives me a sort of nostalgic feel minus the electronics. It was relatively empty when I visited for lunch, our pick of the place for a seat. Each meal comes with a broth and it was very flavorful with a strong essence of chicken, nice and warm for the cold weather. We got the original (#1) and the cutlet (#5). It was a little bit before the food came up, but at least it was made fresh after order. For the 2, I think it was the sauce that made both the meals decent. The rice for both of the orders was a bit on the dry end, had to be pair with everything else. #1 - the chicken breast was definitely on the dry end, plain and didn't hold the sauce well. I get that it's the natural taste of chicken that makes the meal... but it was on the end of being a bit tough to chew (best to let it sit in the broth for a bit then dunk in the ginger sauce). As for the sauce, if someone wasn't a ginger lover...it'd be a bit overwhelming. The chicken thighs were alright, but the skin did have a bit of a rubbery texture (I'd pass on that). #5 - the coating had a nice crunch, but didn't stay on the chicken; that I wasn't surprised as the pieces were cut very thinly. The sauce was a bit garlicky like sriracha mix, was pleasant with the crunchy chicken. As for the other mix with the rice, it kind of leaves a question mark over our heads as the combination isn't quite refreshing nor adds to each bite? Overall, prices were decent and the service was simple/friendly. It was very satisfying of a meal, but good as we were pretty hungry after grocery shopping at H-Mart (yes, made the mistake of shopping hungry). Final Thoughts: Wasn't all too satisfying of a chicken and rice combo meal, but it was filling and light for sure. I'd maybe try another item if there's a next time, but a meh on my to visit again list.
