12-17-22: Was craving Fish and Chips and was looking for a place that has good fish and chips. After checking Yelp reviews, I decided to try Slap Fish since the last Fish and Chips place I tried was just all right. I walked in and wasn't sure if it was sit down and order or order from counter and then sit down (afterwards I learned it was order at counter and then sit at table) I was greeted by Eduardo who was bussing the dirty dishes and I asked how to order and he said just have a seat and he brought me a menu. After looking over the menu I decided on 2 piece fish and chips and coleslaw and a coke. The fountain soda machine wasn't working properly so Eduardo gives me a bottle coke instead. The coleslaw comes and it comes in a big bowl and it was really good nice and crunchy : ). Next the Fish and chips comes out nice and hot. The pieces of fish are huge and fried just right, not oily at all. It came with a good amount of French Fries and tartar sauce. I took some Heinz Malt Vinegar and put it on the fish and the fries. Definitely the fish and chips are delicious. Now comes the great surprise, I go to pay at the counter and ask Eduardo what my bill would be and he told me another customer paid for my meal (it awesome how San Jose supports Veterans : ) ) service here is great and will definitely be back to try the other items on the menu Shout out to Eduardo for great customer service I

I got the single fish and chips. I enjoyed it a lot! The batter and the fish were crispy yet fluffy. The fish tasted delicious and soft, not overcooked. Can't go wrong with fries and tartar sauce. There's also a lot of condiments you can grab on your own. We also got a lobster roll and I thought the lobster was pretty fresh and firm. Their sauce is also delicious. I don't think they have coleslaw....not sure. But the side options were salad or fries.

I went in to get an lobster role. I read the reviews before going but still decided to give it a try. The best item was the friends. The sandwich is Nasty. Can't quite figure it out. I thought it was going to be a lobster grill cheese...but it's definitely not a grill cheese. The lobster roll was too much in my opinion. But maybe I should have stuck to my guns. The cashier/manager was very informative and answer my questions regarding their prior low health score. But over overall...I wouldn't recommend

The guy working was super nice and personable! Greeted me right away, have me great recommendations, checked on my several times while I dined in even tho he was working the register. I looove good customer service! Now the food, was Absolutely Amazzzzing!! I ordered the lobster roll and side salad. And wanted to try out the fish tacos, one grilled and one fried! Soooo good! Fresh & lots of flavor! Of course I had to get a to go box, the lobster roll held up and was still delicious later!

Food was good, could've been better. This might've been my fault since I rushed to order and didn't ask about options available. Overall, it was not bad. I would give this place a chance again if I'm in the area and hungry. Place is clean and well kept. Customer service is also good.

Had this via DoorDash. The lobster roll was delicious. Very happy to find a place in this area that serves the lobster roll warm. It wasn't the greatest lobster roll I've ever had (that is reserved for Boston) but I enjoyed it all the while. The shrimp roll is solid. I'm from New Orleans so I like my shrimp sandwiches fully dressed. The butter roll for the shrimp didn't make up for the lack of toppings or flavor sauce but...the shrimp was really, really good. I enjoyed the shrimp roll, it's just the New Orleanian in me that is used to shrimp po boys haha

*First time review, order was via DoorDash* I was craving clam chowder today and wanted to try somewhere different. I am not super into lobster rolls but knew u wanted to try something else so I opted for the lobster taquitos. Portions good, presentation good, temperature great for being delivered, taste good. Overall pretty good! The clam chowder: rich and chunky consistency which is chefs kiss for a New England. The taste was flavorful! Bacon on top was a nice touch. A bit heavy on the red diced potatoes but rate this 4/5 Lobster taquitos: pleasantly surprised! I've never had any seafood in a taquito style item before. Very good. I am not sure what type of breading they used but I was really impressed with that more so than the lobster. The rolls were not super loaded which makes sense since this wasn't exactly a full meal nor a huge price point. Only gripe is the guac made the rolls very soggy in the center. Wish it was on the side like the other sauces. That orange sauce: I have no idea what it is, but wow! 5/5 for flavor, consistency and spiciness. I'd order a bottle of whatever it is.

Who knew chips with clam chowder would be so fire. Best lobster roll i have eaten on my mommas. Better than the lobster rolls at SF fisherman's wharf no cap. I am a simp for the crab melt

I rarely leave reviews but I feel like it's warranted in this case. Had the Fish & Chips, which was very sub-par. The fish was hard, oily, and was mostly just fried batter. It was served in a bowl with fries, which meant every time you cut into the fish it pushes fries out of the bowl. One star for the staff that was trying their best during the lunch rush, and the other star for the fries.

I've enjoyed Slapfish since I first visited their location in Huntington Beach. It was a hit for my family for my brother's post-graduation dinner. I was excited when they opened in San Jose a few years ago and I've been visiting since. Overall, it's not quite what I have when I'm in Orange County but it still hits the spot. -Lobster Roll (Market Price): Delicious, served with warm butter and with fries or Salad. But nothing special either. Price varies. As of 8/10/22 it was $34. -Lobster Grinder ($17.50): My favorite. You get a mixture -Clobster Grilled Cheese ($17): Cheesey and gooey, served with fries or salad. I'll personally pass on it, but that's because I don't like cheese and lobster. -Chowder Chips (free when you check-in with Yelp): It's like chowder nachos with bacon on top I hope they get closer to the food in Orange County, but at the very least it hits the spot until I can get back to SoCal. Still, grateful for this location.

Clobster grilled cheese was the stand out. Lobster Taquitos were very mid as well as the fish and chips. Spent almost $100 on this spread. I wish all my dishes were good but they just weren't. I would recommend the clobster grilled cheese and lobster roll. Hard pass for everything else. I will say customer service was on point as well as all the house made sauces. If I come back I would def try one of their bowls.

Shrimp Burrito + Fish & Chips + Lobster Taquitos Slapfish @ San Jose, CA SIMPLE REVIEW a 3.4/5 - 1. Taste: The shrimp burrito needed a A LOT MORE shrimp and overall more flavor a 3/5. Fish and chips best thing here pretty large fish and crispy batter and flavorful, the fries too 4.5/5. Their lobster taquitos a 2.5/5 idk just tasted burnt inside and dry but their sauce was good 2. Service: Friendly people but understaffed wait times after ordering can be - 20-45minutes 4/5 3. Worth the $$? - Once if you've been wanting to try Pointers: Free parking (easy & spacious) Indoor & Outdoor seating Accepts cash and card Has bathrooms

Slapfish is one of my GF's and my go-to food pick up spots. We often order the Street Tacos and I enjoy their Clam Chowder. We have tried other items like their Fish-and-Chips and their various Fresh Fish of the Day. Enjoyed them all

Had a great experience dining in here with my friend. We were welcomed immediately and the food came out within 10 minutes! We both got the free chowder chips with Yelp check-in and my friend and I shared the the Lobster Grinder and the Clobster Grilled Cheese (you get to choose fries/salad). The chowder chips were amazing! They topped the chips with chowder, bacon bits, and spicy aioli (?). Between the lobster grinder and the clobster grilled cheese, we both liked the clobster grilled cheese better because it was warm and had more of a comfort food vibe to it! Overall portions are generous and food is delicious - I'd definitely come back to try other items.
