We came here on a Friday night 3/22 around 5:30pm. We're seated right away at the sushi bar. The place started getting extremely busy and all the tables were occupied by 6:30pm. They had 1 main sushi chef then a second cook came out to help. 2 waitresses on staff that were all working very hard non stop, but can't seem to keep up with the patrons and DoorDash standing by. We ordered the Rainbow roll - very fresh Tiger dragon roll - love this roll Spicy tuna roll - one of the best Kanpachi nigiri - it was okay Hamachi nigiri- very good and fresh Scallop - will not order again Ebi - just okay. We will definitely come back, but on a different day of the week when they not as busy.

A pleasant take out dining experience with the new sushi joint in the neighborhood. This used to be where Sushi Mania was. Sushi island offers a lot of options cooked food, sushi and rolls. I ordered several rolls and they were good. I will try some cooked items such as donburi and bentos next time.

Solid 4.5. A new sushi spot recently opened in the Cambrian area located in the strip mall just off 85 and Camden. After finding them on Yelp, we want to check out the quality. Since it was a first visit, we ordered their lunch specials since it has a variety of items. They have a huge menu. We chose a chicken terri and sashimi combo and a chicken katsu and sashimi combo bentos. We also added a negihama roll. Everything came out quick and the overall food quality was pretty good. Presentation looked good too. Service was attentive and their price point average. Since it's in our neighborhood, we'd like to return and check out more of their sushi and sashimi on our next visit. Worth a try...

This is a very bad sushi restaurant. I had high hopes because it just opened and is near me. But unfortunately they use terrible quality ingredients and clearly are not real sushi chefs. Fish was old, vegetables terrible. Rolls fell apart. To go orders aren't even packed with napkins, utensils and soy sauce. Strongly advise you do not eat here. You may get sick from the poor quality fish.

If you can't find any good sushi restaurants place, I can definitely recommend this one! I came here with my family to try out the new sushi place and I was pleasantly pleased with all the pretty food designs and not only was it beautiful in the eyes, it was quite delicious too. After I finished my meal, I ordered another one and so did my family which was shocking because they were picky eaters and now I guess I found a perfect sushi place to go around when I am feeling that I want some sushi! The employees were also very kind, pouring me water when it was empty! And always asked me how the food was afterwards! The price compared to other sushi places to this one is also very cheap in comparison so if you can't want to spent that much money then chose this sushi place! Good food, good service, and good atmosphere!

This is my new favorite neighborhood restaurant and hangout. I love bringing my friends here and sharing their wonderful sushi. The staff is super friendly and they do come around to refill your hot tea. They are so cool I even did my Christmas cards here. But back to the main attraction. Their sake/salmon belly nigiri measures up to any Japanese restaurant costing a lot more. I can also heartily recommend their yellowtail, walu fish, amaebi/sweet shrimp, and unagi nigiri. I enjoyed their dragon roll and appetizer shrimp tempura as well-- big shrmip and 3 to an order. Room for improvement--their fried rolls. At a time when prices are high everywhere, I appreciate their ongoing 10% off the entire menu (board specials excluded) dine-in deal. Big thumbs up for Sushi Island!

Sushi Island is everything you want in a local sushi spot. Small but charming with generous portions of fresh sashimi, it is a welcome addition to the Branham dining scene. The service was attentive and kind, and the presentation of the dishes was top notch. They were easily able to accommodate our large party of nine, and after the meal everyone had only positive things to say about the experience. I tried out the 10-piece Chef Sashimi Regular and was more than satisfied with the quality and volume of fish that I received. Others tried out the bento and rolls, and it all turned out to be great. Based on the good experience so far, I'd be curious to try out some of their other options such as the ramen or donburi, but it will be difficult to turn down another sashimi feast. If you find yourself in South San Jose craving a bite of sushi, find your way down to Sushi Island and you won't be disappointed!

Best Tempura I have ever had! Crispy and fresh. You can just taste the freshness of the veggies and fish. I had the 2 item Bento Box with assorted Tempura and Spicy Tuna Roll. And because my eyes are bigger than my stomach and everything looked so amazing, I added a Dragon Roll and the Tempura Shrimp even held up in the roll. Of course I couldn't ear it all, my son enjoyed the leftovers.Don't pass this one by. Clean, cute and friendly service. It will be my regular while my dog is groomed near by.
