Taqueria El Farolito is a must-visit for authentic, flavorful Mexican food. The menudo is outstanding—rich, hearty, and full of flavor. The beef intestine taco is a real highlight, superbly cooked and bursting with taste. The food here is top-notch and well worth the trip. While the dining environment is pretty basic and not much to write home about, the quality of the food more than makes up for it.
This place was rated one of the 5 best Mexican restaurants in the Bay area and the only one in San Jose. It is a little hole in the wall in a strip mall with counter service and little ambiance. But the service is excellent and the food is **OUTSTANDING**. I had Super Nachos ($8.50) -- the portion was very large and it consisted of chips, cheese, refried and whole beans, a generous helping of carnitas, jalapeños, sour cream and avocado.
