The food and the ambience was great, but our server was awful. We had to ask for dishes. We had to ask for water. We had to ask your place our order, but the food was great and would definitely come back just because of that.
Everything about this restaurant was fantastic!! It was my first time there and I will definitely be back!
$17 for a Margarita. I know drinks are expensive everywhere and the only reason we ordered them was because it was our Anniversary and we were celebrating. But otherwise, no way. Just too over priced.
We came to celebrate a birthday and there were six of us. We were seated at a round table in the dining room, and it was perfect for conversation. The waiter who served us was excellent and he made guacamole for us table-side. He poured a champagne toast for us and mage sure we were well taken care of. The Mexican food selections at this restaurant are numerous and so delicious.
Good food, ample servings. More than I could eat in one sitting. Excellent guacamole. Good margaritas also. Friendly staff.
The president's plate was terrific and a great value. The service was below average due to a large meeting
Great food. Server was excellent and very accommodating to our son and us with special requests. Thank you!
Dinner at the El Adobe is always consistently good. The service was great and the food is reasonably priced. I love the live mariachi music, especially the harp. The ambiance is traditional and fun. With historic status, it's nice to know the El Adobe will not change.
The food as always was great and the service was spot on. The only reason I gave it a nine is because I had noted on Open Table that it was a birthday and nothing was said or done. I know we could've said something, but I wanted it to be a surprise for him and it didn't happen. Otherwise, this is my favorite Mexican restaurant.
The place is famous and well established! However, the food was not up to standardss. Carne Carnitas was tough and dry making it hard to chew. I have to drink water to get them down. My wife ordered 2 tacos but could only eat one. She complained and showed the meat to the waiter. He brought in a replacement but she already lost her appetite. It looked like the meat was scraped at the end of the cooked meat to make a new batch. Nobody else came to apologize for it afterward. Kind of disappointment for a famous restaurant!

Outstanding tableside guac, plus the crab enchiladas were amazing..... my wife's more traditional chicken enchilada was pretty good too! I also appreciate that I can choose black beans.
The restaurant was beautiful, I loved the history. The service stood out most of all. Food was good.
El Adobe is my mother's favorite place to eat. She is 84 yrs old and disabled. Her favorite waitress is Margarita. While we were there we noticed Margarita's hospitality with everyone she served. The guest seem to just thrive to her as though she's family to everyone. My mom would love to eat dinner at El Adobe's everyday if given the choice. It makes us happy to see the joy my mom feels when we tell her we are going to El Adobe for dinner. She never hesitates to get ready once we tell her where we're going for dinner. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.
Great food as always. Service a bit slow but they were quite busy. Celebrated an 80th birthday & the server brought a dessert with candle AND sombrero for singing happy b'day. Cute!
The food and service at this restaurant are excellent. However, the noise level is off the charts and we went on a Wednesday, not exactly a normally busy day in a restaurant. I wish they would open the back patio for service in these lovely, warm summer months. It would be SO MUCH more pleasant out there! We will eat here less often because of the outrageous noise level. All hard surfaces and nothing to absorb sound. It's really TOO LOUD!
