We spent several relaxing hours there mid-week to celebrate a friend's birthday. Very enjoyable, great food, and attentive service. We have plans to return, even from San Diego.
El Adobe never disappoints. The food is absolutely incredible—so delicious that we always clear our plates, and that includes the kids, which says a lot. You truly can't go wrong with any dish on the menu. The drinks are just as good and always perfectly made. The service is consistently friendly and top-notch, making you feel welcomed from the moment you walk in. On top of that, the ambiance is lively, fun, and full of character. El Adobe has become our family's favorite spot, and it's always our go-to restaurant whenever friends or family are visiting from out of town. It's memorable every single time.
Service is always great at El Adobe. The servers are friendly and attentative. We go there often for family events with many people and it never disappoints. Some of our favorites are the fajitas and lobster tacos.
Lovely historic ambience- loved that more than anything and it will bring me back. Service was hit or miss: excellent at first when we were seated then not good when we needed a refill and the bill. Food was good, very traditional. Again I will return.
Family birthday dinner with ten of us on a Saturday in early December. Very crowded so our reservation was for 4:30. Found a space in the small parking lot because were early. Tiny little bar but plenty of seating outside if you have to wait. Historic old building with a huge courtyard in back that would be ideal for weddings and celebrations. Seated at a long table, ordered drinks. Constantino was our server, friendly without being intrusive, patient with our two grandsons ordering for themselves. Food was good, portions were HUGE. I had two shrimp tacos that were very filling, wife had a salad in a bowl that had to be a foot in diameter. Noisy as you might expect on a Saturday evening. Music played by a Mexican harpist was a nice touch. Flan and churros for dessert.
We have eaten at el Adobe since 1974. Always my favorite.Nothing like it used to be. Last night was the third time recently and sad to say the last. Waiters do not understand when ordering. Even the manager didn't come around . Table next to us had tacos brought to table. I was told I had to go to another area if I wanted tacos. I know that's the protocol but make it uniform from table to table. Sadly happened last three times but no more. Lots of other Mexican restaurants to chose from.....
Decided to get brunch here after Mass at the Mission; it did not disappoint for authentic california mex! A lot of food for the price

Their 'Taco Tuesday' dinner specials are great. The three street taco deal is delicious and a great deal. Also, the table side Guacamole was awesome.

We treated east coast family to some authentic Mexican food and atmosphere at El Adobe and they LOVED it. They cannot get good Mexican food in DC so it was a real treat! Both of them ordered the President's Choice and they cleaned their plates!! I had the Cilantro Pepita Salad with Salmon and it was delicious - fresh greens, tasty dressing and the salmon was cooked perfectly! My husband chose the Blackened Fish Tacos which he also thoroughly enjoyed. The service was attentive but relaxed so we were able to enjoy a nice visit with our relatives without feeling rushed.
It's our little tradition to come here for my husbands bday every year. Never disappoints.
We came here for Sunday brunch and really enjoyed it. Large menu of breakfast items. Food was outstanding.
