I really wanted to give this more than a 3 star because I have a soft spot for mom and pop shops, but there really just wasn't anything that would warrant a return visit. Got a deluxe with curly fries and a mushroom (monster size) with onion rings. We added onion to both for no extra charge (don't forget to request this or you won't get your onions!). Deluxe and curly fries were fine - no specific complaints, but generally forgettable and just "good" (hence the 3 stars). We did have some issues with the monster mushroom and onion rings though. First, meat to cheese ratio felt way off. It was clear they added more meat to the sandwich but the cheese looked and tasted nearly nonexistent. Onion rings also smelled and tasted fishy. We're assuming they used the same oil as their fish n chips and it was just not a pleasant experience. Overall, wanted to love this place but didnt. Glad others love it and will support them though!

I've been coming here for over 10 years and I love this little place. Always a smile when I come in and the service is always great. Their ranch dressing is the best, highly recommend it with your curly fries :)

This place has been here basically forever since I first lived in San Leandro and the food has always been consistently tasty and fresh. Run by a cute Korean mom and pop couple, the value for a quick lunch is solid. Yes, post pandemic inflation has caused prices to increase but you get what you pay for. Hoagy steak has been a staple for me as an SL local and I would recommend it for anyone who is looking for a regular lunch take out place.

Love this place. Small Mom & Pop restaurant. Reminds me of those old school M&P Italian restaurants back east. Excellent food. French fries always fresh, hot and firm. Their plate combos are enough for 2.Parking: Main street paid parking. Side street free.Kid-friendliness: The owners are very quiet, polite, respectful. They always greet the kids with a big smile.Wheelchair accessibility: Entry is level with street. Not a lot of space, but they will try to accommodate.

This is a San Leandro staple for us locals. It's a timeless classic and absolutely delicious. Great value and the owners are super nice people. I've never had a bad experience. It's not a Philly cheesesteak it's a hoagie steak and it's damn delicious .

This is the SPOT for hoagies! Little mom & pop hole in the wall spot! Friendly staff. And the food is just amazing! The hoagies come with fries and you change it curly fries! I don't know any other place that's better! I've tried a few but this one is it!

Having lived on the east coast and trying Pats and Geno's, I can't say having a Hoagy Steak is the same, but it fills the craving. Only complaint is that I wish the steak was trimmed a bit better. I did get some fatty pieces. Not going to hate too much because it is a mom and pop shop. Fries nothing special though very happy they were crinkle cut. Though typical restaurant industry. No hand cut here. Shop was clean though a bit weathered. Kudos though for them bringing out my order to my car. 5 stars for customer service. Definitely will support in the future.

Sandwich was just ok, not great but not horrible either. Owners are very cheap as they charge extra for everything. 25 cents for ranch, 50 cents for BBQ sauce on your sandwich, and an extra 4 dollars for veggies on your cheese steak. Since it was so expensive I decided to just go with water. When I asked for a glass of water they told me that they don't do that there. Really? When have you ever heard of a restaurant that won't give you water? The only option was to buy either a bottle of water or a can of soda, both of which are 1.75. If you're not going to serve water the least you can do is provide a complimentary bottle of water for the people dining in. Went with the soda since I'd have to pay the same for water. When all was said and done the bill was a little over 17 bucks. Not worth it for a mediocre sandwich and a drink that I shouldn't have had to purchase. Highly recommend trying someplace else. Charging extra for every little thing is ridiculous, especially water for Christ's sake.
