I try and support my people but I can't stand trying to be played. No public bathroom your advised to go to Safeway lol. The wings on the menu say 14.34 but the owner charged me $15.54 instead saying that was tax but then I was still charged tax on top of that double dipping like where they do that at!! Just messy, ghetto, and ignorant SMH The nerve to smile in a customers face when they tell you their visiting then take advantage that's cute LMAO. Food was alright, gumbo samples were meh and days old... Don't get me started on the cook ? If you want to get taken advantage of and played this is the place for you.
**UPDATE ** CUPS EMPTY WHERE?! LMAO LADY BYE ?! YOU ARE SORRY AND YOU SHOWED IT! MISS ME WITH THAT BS!

One of the best fried chicken in a long time. It looks dry but there's a lot of juice and flavor once you get into it. If it was delivered I don't think it would taste as good. The fried cod was good but not great because it wasn't juicy or buttery soft. The cornbread sides were yummy. The Mac and cheese was cheeeeesy and thick and medium spicy. Collard greens were normal. Green beans were sweet and yummy. Fries were normal fries.I asked for tap water since I didn't want a drink and the server looked surprised (and partly disgusted because I wanted faucet water?) and asked if I wanted bottled water instead. I said sure so we could end the conversation and didn't see the charge on the final receipt. I wasn't sure if the server forgot to add it or bottled water is free. Overall not a complaint but if you want to avoid drink confusion, either don't order water or bring your own lol

The food here is good however, if you have heart condition, high blood pressure problems or anything of that nature this place isn't for you... The food is pretty SALTY. The cook has a very heavy hand with the seasoning. I had red snapper, garlic potatoes and greens.. the snapper and greens were salty?? as hell.?
The owner was so welcoming. The food was cooked perfectly ??. I had the smothered chicken, rice gravy and greens. They let me try a fried chicken strip that was so moist and breaded to perfection!

It is a little quaint place with delicious food. We had the fried catfish, rice w/ gravy and fried cabbage. The fish was made to order, so it came out perfect. The meal was so good we had to try the dessert.... to be continued!!!

It was my birthday, and I wanted some good, down home soul food. Gave these wonderful people a shot, and I'm so glad I did! First of all, it's a little hole-in-the-wall place adjacent to the Safeway parking lot, which is THE BEST type of restaurant in my opinion. You walk in the door, and it smells like real, down home soul food. For a second, I thought my mother was still alive! The food? Oh my, let me tell you about the food. I ordered the chicken strips with collards, and fries. THE COLLARDS!! It is worth going there for the collards, alone!! Everything else was equally fabulous. The chicken was authentically "soul food". Season perfectly, as opposed to the overseasoning many chicken places employ. My partner got the chicken as well and also loved it! However, my partner got the jalapeno Mac and cheese and the garlic mashed potatoes as sides. Let me tell you: I HATE Mac and Cheese!! However, THIS Mac and Cheese was insanely good, and I'll order it for myself next time. The garlic mashed potatoes? Just stop. There was so much flavor, between those two sides, that I ended up eating some of my partner's sides, as well! But wait!! I forgot about the cornbread!! It was moist yet flakey, and simply delicious. (my only gripe, here, is that the portion is a little small. Or, maybe that's just a "me" thing.) Knowing it was my birthday, these lovely ladies gave me a slice of their banana cream cake. Oh. My. At the end of all that, we were both so deliciously full, we both passed out! It was a wonderful birthday, and a great new experience. It was exactly what I was looking for and will definitely become a regular.
