Rod & Hammer’s offers a tasting room, distillery, and restaurant with lots of indoor and outdoor setting, including unique gathering spots like chair groupings around fire pits, couches, and tables. The food is outstanding and very good, with options like the beet salad with fresh greens, a fondue board presented on a giant pretzel with delicious sausage, broccolini, green apples, and radish, and cheesey goodness fondue. The drinks and whiskey are excellent, top tier, and scrumptious, including the 112 proof Cask Strength whiskey. The staff are great, fantastic, and extremely informative; the tour guide provides a great dynamic and caters the tour to interests, covering intricate details of the development process. The place is dog-friendly and a perfect place to gather, a great stop for anyone coming through SLO or locals. However, the men’s restroom needs to scrub under the urinal and lacks a soap dispenser.
