After a lengthy visual investment and walk throughout the asian gardens, the 'Specialty Tea' re-energized and sent me along.

After a full morning strolling the Huntington's massive grounds, there are few better places to stop for a tasty lunch outdoors than the Chinese Tea House. It has a fun menu and a variety of drinks you can consume under the umbrellas. Highly recommended!

We had a lovely lunch here and great ice tea, the staff work so hard and all were very friendly , the day we went it was very busy but we got our food quite quickly

This a tasty cafe in the middle of the Chinese garden at the Huntington. Prices are a little high for the entrée portions, but a better value than the Rose Garden Tea room. The autumn salad with pomegranate arils, however, is a good portion size and is lovely. I appreciate their vegan and vegetarian options. Everything we have gotten here - from the salad to tofu and vegetable dish to congee - has been delicious, even the sesame-encrusted balls for dessert, which I didn't think I'd like. Lots of seating, beautiful scenery, and delicious food, although both my husband and I could eat two entrées each!

We were having trouble finding this place. We used the gps to walked over and it work or else we will be going in circle. All that walking really worn me out. There should be a sign that lead to this place. When I got there, the line was long, so I was in line for 30 minutes. We were all trying to get our lunch before it close at 2:30 pm on the free Thursday. Nothing on the menu seem tempting for me to try but I ordered the Special that came with lot of big shrimps and rice and veggies. Another bowl was a simple chicken dumplings broth. I'm not a fan of dumpling and I'm not a fan of Chinese noodle also but I was starving and I know noodle will not fill me up so rice it was. It was ok, pretty good enough to eat, not wow, but fill me up and the serving is big. For dessert I got the rice balls came in 5 for $5. That was ok too but tasted salty to me. All this for $31.21. Ordering was quick and easy if you know what you want, no question asked. After I ordered the food, I grabbed my number, grabbed the utensils and water, and went outside to look for seat. I saw workers carrying food to tables so I figured they will bring my food to me, that's what the number for. I placed on the table and waited. About 10 minutes food came. When I'm done, worker came by to clean the table. Outdoor seating was beautiful so it was a pleasant scenery to eat like I'm in China.

Food was ok. When I'm hungry I can't be picky. I pick the special dish so we can share and it came with rice. I eat small so this fill me up just right for me to continue my garden trek for the day. Special also came with lot of big shrimps. We mixed the rice and dumpling broth together so our dishes have everything. Dumpling broth was warm not hot enough so it tasted kinda bland..I don't think it's a real broth haha. Outdoor seating and the atmosphere made up for it so I enjoyed the scenery while eating. The rice ball was small but I was starving so it was ok too. Red bean inside the ball. I usually eat the kind with the sweet yellow filling in so this balls were kinda weird to me; Chinese version I guess. All this for $31! Will I go back? No. I will remember to pack a sandwich next time.

Beautiful garden around and good service that make it a great place to have a snack, lunch and relaxing.

This place is an unpleasant surprise in every way. It is overpriced (typical museum mark-up), very small entree selection, small portions. And it is only open 11a-3p so there is often a long line. Could be it is just too challenging to run a serious, small-scale Asian food operation inside the Huntington. OTOH it looks like the kitchen in back is a reasonable size. Ironically, within a 5-mile radius, outside the Huntington, there are probably several hundred Asian restaurants which are better, cheaper, and faster.

Location is beautiful but I was no prepared for this food establishment in the park . It kind of spoiled my reception on this place. And the menus didn’t look inviting. For me I expecting this food service it wasn’t even clear that it was a tea house and everyone is invited. It didn’t feel like a tea house but a cheep food court. Something didn’t work here for me.

Location is great. Service was poor and the food quality is nothing to brag about.

After waiting in an awkward line, we ordered the dumplings in soup, beef noodles, and iced tea. ~50$

This is the worst dishes I tried around this area. Service is also not good. The counter staff didn't say anything to me when it was my turn to make an order, just a cold face. But she said many times of how are you to the person behind me. Maybe just because I had an Asian face. I will never go here again.
