Such a lovely experience! It's a little expensive and the selections, while beautiful contain food choices that would not logically appeal to most diners (mushroom sandwich, caviar on salmon, for example). I loved the wide range of choices but my guest could not eat everything, sadly. All so fresh and creative!!
Beautiful addition and Nicely decorated room, cold, echoing, Small tables too close together. Service was slow.
I have to admit I am a little bias as I was the Director of Events & Catering at the Huntington Library for almost 10 years so the Rose Garden Tearoom is personal to me, it was my office and the heartbeat of the Gardens. I still love bringing special guests to share the history of the Huntington "Playhouse" and "Bowling Alley" . Our server Edgar was lovely & kind and connected with our baby, Katherine. We were at the last seating so we could take our time. Everyone enjoyed their time and I know this will be a regular happenings for years to come:))
We had an amazing time as usual. We had tea in the main room. We were seated within 5 minutes of arrival. Our server was attentive and very kind.
I've been there a few times and every other experience was wonderful. This time the bread was stale, and the service was inattentive until the very end when I asked for the bill. The front desk personnel were fine, but the server didn't seem to know anything about Tea or the food he was serving.
The experience was delightful, particularly service (Karina) and food/beverages. Dropped one star because despite having an Open Table reservation confirmation for outdoor seating at 2 pm, when arriving at 1:55 pm, was informed that the outdoor seating was "sold out".
We really enjoyed ourselves. Did I love herring on the menu, no but the things I did like I enjoyed a lot. You're not just there for the food but for the tea and experience. They had an awesome selection of tea and the scones were amazing! Having to pay for admission and tea separately was a little bummer but when you get there and get to see and walk the grounds, totally worth it! I would definitely go back.
Took the family here for an afternoon tea experience as well as birthday celebration. The food was great, the service was very good, and the ambiance was excellent. A good place to experience a nice tea time with family, as they have options for children. Plus you get to experience the gardens.
Great tea! The food was delicious. The apricot escape tea was great! Service was excellent! Great day!
Fabulous experience! The sandwiches were so flavorful, as well as the desserts and various choices of tea. The proportions of all the food were absolutely perfect. The scones were delectable. I especially appreciated that there was something for everyone's palate. There were 4 of us and we each thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The attention to detail and quality of service was second to none. And the tea room ambience was lovely as well.

I was not happy that I felt obligated to order from a menu of $68 +. 1 person can't possibly eat such small portions and feel satisfied. One and done, never again.
It was a little awkward sitting so close to another table. You felt like they were part of your conversation. The food was good but some of it was a little bit unique in flavors. But it was fun to try something different. Service felt very recurrent. But overall it was nice. I've always wanted to do it and now Ican check it off my list.
The food was excellent and the service superb. We sat outside and listened to the concert in the rose garden. A perfect afternoon.
Tea options not great, I was expecting nice cup of tea. My pear tea with vanilla was very bad, my 4 other friends were not able to drink it as well. Thankfully I was able to change it to peach tea. Peach tea was just fine, nothing special, but at least drinkable. My friend had different tea as well, it was okay, kind of the same basic tea I have at my home, from regular store. Regarding food, we payed 75$ each and got a lot of sandwiches options and sweet stuff. Dear tea room staff, please remove your onion, cucumber and pumpkin sandwich. Taste of this sandwiched very bad, it's ruined experience of the tea party. The rest of sandwiches and dessert were nice. Overall not bad, just remove this disgusting sandwiches ( non of us eat it plus not of people around eat it as well) and add nice tea options, basic one I can get from store. Really liked butter they give at the beginning and orange marmalade!
We always enjoy tea at the Gardens. Not only do we get tea for a reasonable price and great food but we also get to tour the lovely gardens afterwards. This is a regular event for us and looking forward to many more times with friends, food and setting.
