Happy to have found this lovely bakery in San Mateo downtown. We love their sourdough breads, sweet and savory pastries. They have long lines on the weekends so prepare to wait at-least 10-15 minutes if you are getting coffee with your pastry.
Some of my favorites are “tomato girl”, “Kouign-amann” and “everything croissant bagel”. Their chocolate sourdough and olive sourdough bread are also very unique and tasty.
They also have a cute patio on the back where you can sit, relax and enjoy the food.

Hands down the very best patisserie / bakery / croissants place in the Bay Area. Absolutely perfection. I’m not just saying that: I’ve compared it to some of the big names in San Fran and beyond. It’s true, unadulterated French bake craft at its finest. Be there early morning or the best stuff will be gone sometimes even by 10 AM.
Service was poor. We have certain dietary restrictions and hence had some questions about the ingredients in the bread. We were rushed and given mean looks when we asked two questions. I ended up buying a loaf that not all the members in the family can enjoy. I was judged for asking questions. I hope this does not happen with other customers as not everybody is just picky some of us have real consequences of consuming certain ingredients. Hope folks in your line of work understand this and empathize.

The owner/head baker Anne Moser reached out the day after I posted a bad review and apologized. She said that employees should always promptly fix or replace incorrect drinks, and that she would address the issue immediately and issue a refund. She obviously understands her industry and the importance of customer service. I appreciate her professionalism and the apology. It's very unfair that a couple rotten employees should negatively affect her business, and I'm sympathetic to that. The restaurant's baked goods are special, so I'm confident they will continue to have long lines, and I'm happy for their success.

I lowkey think the mini chocolate croissant is the sleeper hit here. Pretzel croissant dough for a little extra chew and some salt to contrast and bring out the chocolate 🤌😚
Also complies with my harm reduction diet, 12oz coffee cup for scale. The back patio is lovely as well.
