Food is good but it is getting smaller and smaller portions. You order before you sit down. And once you sit food is almost there. Service is decent but it's a rush when your done you are expecting to leave since on weekend there is usually a line.

First time here but was blown away by the kalbi on hot pan, sizzling coming out. Taste extra good with rice cake and radish.

I can see the appeal but it's not my thing. It seemed very decadent and Americanized compared to pictures of traditional kalbijjim online. The meat seemed to come with a lot of cartilage and gristle. The sauce was pretty heavy, tasting more like sweet and sour than beef.

Pretty long lines around dinner, limited street parking but there are spots around the block. Good spot for small groups so you can SHARE all the dishes - they are pretty hefty. Must try the Kalbi Braised Short Ribs w/Cheese added on, so you can watch the server torch it in front of you! The bibimbap was also good. The banchans are pretty basic...

(Jun 2024) The Kalbijjim was good as usual and the cold noodles was interesting (first time having it). I was disappointed about the banchan because the kimchi didn't taste as good as SF locations and the daikon was slightly bitter... We got two other servings of daikon and they were all slightly bitter

at a glance:
- food + service is great
- join yelp line before coming (long wait)
- order ahead
- highly recommend galbijim (serves multiple)

Highly recommend if you're looking for a high quality, trendy Korean restaurant. The wait is a bit long, but it just goes to show how popular it is, and for good reason. The galbijim is reminiscent of traditional Korean galbijim; tender and flavorful. Each order serves 3+ people (recommend adding rice cakes to it) which justifies the price. If you order cheese on it, they give you a fire show when they torch it. Because of their order ahead system, the food is ready pretty much as soon as you sit down. They also play kpop :)

We got a number 9 combination and a rice cake appetizer. The quality of meat is good. I cannot get this type of meat some where else. On a Tuesday night, there was no wait for late dinner. I will be back.

Great food with lots of flavors! We ordered the regular Kalbijim with cheese, portion was huge for 3-4 people, and the cheese topping was soooooooo good with the pot. Would highly recommend for a cold day.
Wish the service was better - our waitress never refilled our water but I can see they’re busy with guests.

Went in with no expectations since I haven't ever eaten this specific kind of food. So take this review as a more uncultured take than the opinion of a seasoned expert.

The food was top tier - we ordered the Braised Short Ribs w/Cheese added on.

Taste & Quality:
We ordered spice level 3 and it was the right amount of heat for our preference - hot enough to feel it but not nearly enough to cause you to sweat. The gravy itself was a delightful mix of sweet and spicy very reminiscent of the flavors you'd expect from Asian takeout. This is not a bad thing, the flavors are familiar, taste good and you'll feel comfortable with them, this isnt an acquired taste.

The meat was excellent, fall off the bone soft and full of flavor. You barely needed to exter any effort to cut it or break it off into smaller pieces. A couple of pieces had some cartilage - but not anything that would count as a negative - it's all great flavor and texture.

The extra cheese is toasted at the table and is a generous amount. It's a positive addition to the dish and well worth adding, not a gimmick as things like this can often be.

Portion Size:
A regular portion was enough to get 4 people with average appetites completely full. I would wager that even with large appetites, two people would need to put in some work to finish it. A regular portion came with two bowls of rice.

Price:
We paid over $100 for the single item w/Cheese. It may feel like a lot for one item, but it's surprisingly decent value for what you get. I'd be willing to do it all over again with a group of 2-3 others.

I had eaten at Daeho here, in Milpitas, and in SF before. My family and I wanted to grab a quick meal, so we checked the wait time at Daeho in Milpitas and it was an hour. The wait time at this location was 3-18 minutes, so I drove over for over 30 minutes and reserved a table. I got a text message saying that my table was almost ready and to line up to preorder. There must have been at least 60 people ahead of me when I went there, and my table was definitely not almost ready.

I understand it's probably pretty busy on most Friday nights but felt that the messaging of "Your table is almost ready" incredibly deceptive given that I probably had to wait another 60 minutes in line.

Daeho is a hyped Korean restaurant with kalbijim. It’s good, but not my favorite dish and I actually think the seolleongtang and suyuk are much more worth it. I think the suyuk here was better than the milipitas location.

The kalbijim is $90 alone; our meal added extras so $120. Suyuk is $60.

Oh and always expect a wait; unless you’re
Here for lunch at odd hours or early dinner.

My boo brought me and his friend for dinner here one night, and it was a cool new experience for me. The food was so, so good. The kalbijjim was big enough for the three of us to share. The decor was very modern, and the place felt like a nice casual place to come with friends and family. Will be back again!

I first heard my friends rave about how great Daeho was when they only had the San Jose location. Once they opened in San Mateo, I had to try it—and I’ve already been twice and even got takeout once! I absolutely love their food; it’s just so flavorful and satisfying. I highly recommend the “Braised Short Rib.” While it might cost $98, it’s worth every penny and can easily feed a family of 2 or 3.
