We felt so lucky that we were able to catch this place on a busy Sunday afternoon with barely any wait. The food tasted so authentic in a setting to match. The chefs are exposed and you can watch them work their magic. We tried the tapas, the sushi, the specials - nothing disappointed! It came out quick and hot with bold flavors. Just how we like it. Highly recommend checking this place out! Very cozy, intimate vibe with smooth jazz over head. Coming back soon!

The kaku-uni and unagi fried were very good. The chirashi was pretty good but a bit over priced for the little you get. The tofu salad was not too interesting, just tofu, avocado, and their normal salad

Great food at an affordable price. However: taking away 2 stars because the manner of the head waitress - Erica, I believe - is way too brash and impatient. Personally I'd rather not be pushed and ordered around when I go to dinner.

Decent spot in san Mateo downtown for Japanese food with a creative twist. The ambiance was good and service was a tad slow. We enjoyed most of the dishes. However there is one dish that completely ruined our experience.Their chanko nabe hotpot had absolutely no flavor. The soup was so bland it felt like they forgot to add seasoning. It honestly was like eating chicken and veggies that’s boiled in plain water. I usually don’t like very heavy flavors and even I found it hard to eat because of the blandness. The meat (wagyu slices and chicken) were both overcooked and really hard to chew. We had to add soy sauce ourselves as they didn’t provide any dipping sauce.Recommend their tapas - the tamagoyaki and peach shirome were both really good.

DASH has been a favorite of ours since before they moved from behind the theater. The food is consistently good, the service is good, and while it's pricier than some of the lower end sushi places it's still a good deal for what you get. My wife picked DASH for my surprise 40th birthday party and they accommodated 8 of us easily.

It’s just way too expensive for what it is. Small portions, uninspiring dishes, massive prices

Solid japanese spot in San mateo. We shared the dash taco, the peach shirome, eryngii mushroom, top secret, and hamachi carpaccio. The dash taco and peach shirome were alright but the mushroom and top secret were absolutely amazing. The waitress kindly told us what she recommended from the special tapas and the regular tapas which was super nice. Next time, I will definitely try the sashimi/nigiri.

Good service, no wait on a saturday night, extremely overpriced... the sushi is TINY... the flavors are lacking...everything was average..I wouldn't come back again..

Four stars for this Japanese restaurant. The food is really good. Okay ambience and service is great. Menu items are quite extensive from sushi to tapas. Servings are a bit small, including the dining area. Good overall.
