My girlfriend and I had the worst food poisoning after going here. We ordered 2 rolls and beef sukiyaki and we've been throwing up all night. Food was also overpriced for NOT being authentic. The rolls were layered in sauces and completely took away from the taste of the sushi. I rarely write bad reviews, but be warned.

Had the 14 pcs sashimi combo (with miso soup and rice) and the beef sukiyaki. The sashimi was fresh and fatty in a good way. The sukiyaki's broth was rich with mushroom umami, featuring tender beef, mushrooms, veggies, tofu, egg, and clear noodles cooked in soy sauce and sweet sake. Paired it with a bottle of sake—perfect match.

I have eaten several times via Door Dash and take out! This is a great neighborhood place. The food is delicious, fresh and I love the miso soup! I plan to take some out of town guests here next month. Table seating and tatami rooms!

There are so many Japanese restaurants in downtown San Mateo, but not many of them serve good sushi and is open for lunch. I really like Fuji Sukiyaki because it's not packed but still serves up really good sushi for the price.

There are usually several fish of the day so you can really get your craving fixed. The toro with uni and caviar was really good. Very rich and decadent. Bluefin maguro was also very good.

Really enjoy Fuji Sukiyaki this last time. I hadn't been there in ages and I really liked their menu updates. They always had excellent Sukiyaki (great for winter) but now they also have a lot more sushi options (including many innovative vegetarian sushi options.)

Vegetarian options: About ten vegetarian sushi options in addition to many other menu choices.

No skill in preparation whatsoever. Rough careless cuts of fish tossed in rice

I had a FANTASTIC deluxe chirashi that was fully loaded and included the belly of salmon, hamachi and toro, and delicious uni. Atmosphere is not great but I was very impressed and tend to go to the other high end spots in DT San Mateo. I discovered this spot because they are open for lunch. I can't wait to go back!

Can't distinguish one Japanese restaurant food from another. Not here anyways. Seems, cooks went to same japanese-cooking school and never deviated. ?
