We went here yesterday to order a large pie. There is no seating to eat your pizza. It's grab and go place. They serve whole pies here. We ordered yesterday, but the pizza was undercooked and doughy. It was very floppy. It was hard to eat it. I wish I could get my $$ back, but it is too late. I was so disappointed as it was nothing like the one in SF. I am never going there again. It's one of the worst pizzas I have eaten.

Went on a friend's recommendation for the clam and garlic pizza. Also got their combination with it.
Overall it isn't amazing but it was novel. Pizza was solid, above average for sure though. Nothing about it was bad just isn't a top 5 pizza for me.
Pricing is fair as it comes in 4 or 8 pieces so worth a try if local.

Great food. You can't go wrong with golden boy. The only reason I can't go 5 stars is the original goldenboy in San Francisco northbeach. There's something about the crust made there. Very special. Maybe it's the pans or oven, but definitely distinct from the other two shops. They will just have to borrow some of the seasoned pans. Their service was excellent. I ordered by phone and my pizza was ready on time. Freindly staff. There really is no atmosphere as this is a pick up only location. I praise them for serving the san mateo area. Let my grandma try some of their pizza. She is one tough critic, but she let me know that this pizza was delicious. 100% grandma approved.

My buddy swears by the one in San Francisco so I was pretty excited to try it out. My first time in I got a large veggie and pepperoni; the crust was severely undercooked and doughy, the cheese hardly melted and the pizza cold. The customer service was superb, they offered me two new pizzas right away, however we declined and waited another two weeks to get another. Well same issue, still undercooked and soggy. Maybe I need to try the one in San Francisco, but I don't think I'll return to this place.

We got the Combo and the soooo famous calm and garlic. Both pizzas were undercooked and not firm, with burnt edges. The cheese wasn’t melted all the way. The combo was okay but very greasy. Tbh idk why everyone is talking about this calm and garlic pizza. It has wayyyy too much garlic that it was burning my mouth. Totally forgot that it had calms on it. If you lovvvee garlic and want it to stay in your mouth all day and night even after brushing 20 times then this pizza is right for you. I don’t think I’ll be back but if I do I’m definitely going to try something else. Maybe the north beach location hits different.

The first time I tried pizza from Golden Boy I was amazed! Honestly, it was the best pizza I ever had - & I'm Sicilian. I know good pizza! However, the last 2 times we got pizza from this location, the service was below acceptable, and one of the pizzas made us ill. Three days ago, my husband ordered a pizza and was told it would be ready in 20 mins. When he arrived to pick it up, he had to wait an additional 20 mins for it to be ready. While he was waiting, a customer returned to the counter to inform them that they gave him the wrong pizza. This prompted my husband to check the pizza before he left. They forgot to double cut it (as requested). The time before that, we requested light sauce, but it tasted like they added extra. Both of us had an upset stomach for 2 days afterward. I dont think it was due to extra sauce - but we're certain it was the pizza because I had a piece when I felt better and became ill again. Hopefully these were one-offs & next time it will be back to the greatness we have come to love!
