Lily's Crêperie is a charming small space located in the Crystal Springs Village strip mall in San Mateo. Discovered while charging an electric vehicle, this was a great chance to kill time and enjoy an even greater snack. The lemon crêpe is a customer favorite and does not disappoint. Visitors can watch the crêpes being made from scratch, with the batter placed on a piping hot griddle and flattened into a perfect circle. The generous use of butter, likely the wonderful type used in banh mi, adds to the deliciousness. After a generous squeeze of fresh lemon, the crêpe is folded, placed in a to-go container, and sprinkled with powdered sugar and fresh whipped cream. This family-owned restaurant also serves drinks, gelato, and has a few booths for indoor seating, plus more space outside that's really nice on a good day. Although the cafe can be quiet during some visits, there is plenty of parking available, although it can be a challenge depending on the time of day. Visitors should definitely give Lily's a try, and bonus points if they also order the iced ca phe sua da, an amazing iced coffee strong enough to wake the dead. Satisfaction is guaranteed.
