I really wanted to like MDTC (Myung Dong Tofu Cabin). But as a Korean, I would have to say that the food just fails to impress in many fronts. The Kimchi Pancake was falling apart with inconsistent texture. The Galbi, which is the easiest to get right just with good ingredients, was tough like cardboard - mostly because they would've used the cheapest meat possible. The banchan (side dishes) were decent though but that can't be the highlight. Surprisingly, the Korean Fried Chicken came out pretty good but again, the food quality was all over the place.

MDTC is your typical Korean collage comfort food joint and it needs to do a few things right. The grilled meat selection, the tofu soups, the appetizers, all failed to impress. Yet, the bonus - like the fried chicken and banchan - were decent. This was the confusion we all left with.

Go here if you're desperate for Korean food. But we won't be returning at least for another few years.

Parking: Lots of space in the plaza parking lot.

Clam tofu stew was delicious - they were also very generous with the number of clams

Good place for hot stone bowl rice, tofu soup or japchae noodles
Barley tea and bonchon are complimentary, those little side dishes are fun

Kid-friendliness: High chairs, but be careful with the hot bowls and sizzling near the little ones

We got some tofu soup, original fried chicken and jjajang-udon! Love the banchans, my favorite is always their radish and the bean sprouts. It was a good hearty meal!!

I liked the attentive service. Short ribs were a little sweet but still good. Lots of side dishes.

This place is PHENOMENAL! The food is out of this world, tofu, soup, and dumpling soup is my favorite, don’t forget to try the Bulgogi beef and the Korean fried chicken. We come here every week now because it is that good. Service is wonderful. Don’t you dare sleep on this place!!!

Adorable Korean restaurant in the Marina. I don't think I can even explain how delicious this food was. SO. GOOD. I will be coming back everyday until I die. The staff was so incredibly nice and helpful, so kind to us. They worked very quickly, and so hard. The interior wasn't outstanding, but the food completely made up for it. We had so many leftovers, from just 3 dishes! They also gave us a bunch of little appetizers for free, with free refills. Absolutely, jaw dropping, delicious! GO THERE!! ITS WORTH IT!!

They made us write names down on a whiteboard to queue for tables. However they didn’t check the names and let whoever was first in line in, when they definitely were not the first to arrive. They did not ask any people sitting down if they had arrived first. The servers are extremely busy and they desperately need to hire another server. They also got our order wrong. People waiting in the doorway crowd to the tables and they are disturbing and wandering around with a bunch of kids elbow to our table. The price of everything has also gone up significantly since last year and the owners changed. The soup had a lot less seafood added compared to before. Would not recommend this spot anymore. Overpriced, mismanaged, and lousy service.

I was skeptical of this place as the pictures didn’t look too good, but I was craving for tofu soup, so I decided to give it a try! What can I say! The kimchi beef spicy tofu soup was really good! The sides were great as well! I’d definitely come back to eat again!

Wow! I was shocked with the portion size, definitely enough for 2 adults with some leftovers. I've always dined in but couldn't leave the house today so I ordered in via door dash. Hands down my trusted Korean spot in San Mateo. They WILL always have my business

This is a cozy, local Korean food spot near the Marina Mart in San Mateo. The staff are very friendly and attentive. I've always been seated quickly or within five minutes.
The food is definitely the star of the show here. Their Korean fried chicken is hot, crispy, and delicious, especially their soy and garlic flavor! Their beef dolsot is flavorful and filling, enough for two people. Their tofu stew is perfect for cold weather and come with a variety of additions.

Overall, this is a great spot for quick and delicious food.
