TP TEA – San Mateo is a popular boba and tea spot known for its strong, flavorful teas and variety of treats. Many customers appreciate the quality and authenticity of their drinks, especially the Hot Tie Guan Yin Milk Tea, which is praised for its strong tea flavor and light, non-sweet style. While some find the tea to be quite strong and sometimes bitter, others enjoy the bold taste and prefer it unsweetened or with minimal sugar. The drinks often come with small boba pearls and sometimes real lemon bits, adding a fresh touch to lemon black tea. The staff is friendly and attentive, with some customers noting excellent customer service, especially when mishaps happen, like a dropped drink.
The restaurant is well-loved for its egg waffle, particularly the chocolate egg waffle, which is described as soft, warm, and addictive. It evokes nostalgic memories for some and is highly recommended. During busy times, the lines can be long, especially on weekends, and parking may be limited, but many find the wait worth it due to the quality of the drinks and snacks. Prices are around $5-6 for drinks, and the overall experience is considered good, with some mentioning the wait times longer than other places. Overall, TP TEA is recognized as a favorite spot in the area, especially for those seeking strong, authentic Taiwanese-style teas and delicious treats.
