I’m a sucker for Salvadoran comfort food and at El Cuscatlán in Hercules the pupusas are spot‑on, the aguas frescas hit the sweet spot, and the staff is friendly, but seating feels a bit cramped and service slows when it gets busy.

Best Latin food on the East Bay! Every bite is so flavorful, they really get their spices right. The Surf & Turf (Mar y Tierra) comes with generous portions of steak with spicy chimichurri, huge prawns (not baby shrimp), beans, rice, salad and hand made tortillas. With such good food it can get packed on Fridays and Saturdays, but it's worth the wait. My Cuban wife and I are regulars. If you want a "sure thing" come here :-)
