Good sized portions and friendly service. Good value. Surprisingly, parking can be an issue.

The food is really good. The meat especially very delicious. The waitresses here so very kind. One waitress who had dark long hair and red lipstick , thank you for helping my elderly mother with diluting her drink with water . So very kind. Above and beyond.

The food was delicious. I stopped by for a Menudo and a Michelada and both were very well. Tatiana was my server and her attitude and service was outstanding.

Modest, very authentic Mexican food on a quiet stretch of Lincoln Avenue in San Rafael. No frills atmosphere but friendly service and great, inexpensive food.

Very mediocre breakfast burrito. Egg potato and bacon in tortilla. Bland but at least the salsa was good.

I am a fellow Hispanic, but I opted to not speak Spanish. (Not good at it). I feel as though they were biased towards me by charging me 26.99 for a carne asada plate when all their menus show 20.99. When I pointed at the price on check-out, the woman looked extremely flustered and chalked it up to “we recently changed our prices”. Roughly 33 markup? Really? I won’t be coming here ever again.

Best burrito!
Restaurantji Recommends
Ordered a burrito on the menu which didn’t say it had guacamole, when the order came I mentioned to the waitress that I had an avocado allergy, the restaurant staff quickly remade a new burrito for me without hesitation. Exceptional service and very good.
Excellent Micheladas!! Best place in town.
Definitely great service too!!
Love Latino places with Latino employees
This restaurant was at the top of their game when I went there for lunch. The chicken mole was excellent as were the rice and beans that came with it and the spicy salsas too. One of the better Mexican meals I’ve had in San Rafael in a long time. Highly recommend stopping in..
I returned to El Palmar with my family after over a decade and was pleasantly surprised by the renovations—the restaurant looks better than ever. The staff was incredibly kind and provided exceptional service. I ordered my usual carne asada burrito with cheese, and it tasted just as amazing as I remembered. El Palmar truly has the best burritos of any Mexican restaurant I’ve been to. A hidden gem with great food and service—I’ll definitely be back!
I searched high and low for champurrado and found it here. The food and salsa were terrific. I will certainly be back when I'm in the area.
