I love this place. They're super nice, it's affordable, DELICIOUS, and super friendly. There's tons of room and it's a very pleasant atmosphere. So far, I've only gotten the pupusas, because they're soooo delicious.

Three enormous pupusas which were delicious. Not very busy so wait time was only 15m. I should have asked for more curtido with my takeout order. So satisfying to have such a delicious meal!

We're local and try to make it here at least once a month. Pupusas are the best in the area and the price is great for what you get. Staff is always friendly and the restaurant itself is always clean and playing fun music. One of our favorite restaurants on our rotation.

In a sea on fancy, overpriced downtown hair salons, law offices, and bougee restaurants, La Esperanza is a beacon of hope for someone craving some Latino food!! The price point works for a quick lunch. I ordered delivery and I was happy that they wrapped the plate with foil so it didn’t get all soggy once you add the slaw.

Pupusas are 100% amazing. The family that runs this place are kind and put in a lot of effort. But I do not recommend anything else here but a hot and ready pupusa. Yuca fries, which I've ordered twice now, are consistently undercooked and inedible. Most other food I've tried here other than pupusas has not been enjoyable.

The food is good, but they charge for everything you have to pay for the togo container, if you pay on cash they still charge for clover processing ehat??If i pay with credit car is ok the charge for that.But really with cash too??
Quite an experience! I have never had traditional Pupusas before, so this was definitely a treat. I went ahead and ordered three Pupusas, (a cheese, a revuelta & a bean with cheese.) I also went ahead and ordered their version of an Horchata. Since I went with my boyfriend and our friend, we shared in order of the Yucca fries & empanadas de plátano. Can I just say, that these are the best Pupusas I've ever had. I've never experienced such a traditional, rich pupusa before. The yucca fries were interesting, as they were less tastier than a regular potato fry. And las empanadas de plátano, were just iconic. My boyfriend went ahead and ordered them with a black been filling, and they were delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection and service was fast. Oh, and the Horchata was definitely far from our traditional Mexican Horchata. It was very naughty, but quite delicious as well. This location, it's such a hole in the wall, that needs to be visited more often by locals & others that are visiting. This establishment makes me feel like I am eating at someone's grandma's house. Super cozy and welcoming.

Overall food is great. Pupusas are yummy and freshly made. However, ingredients ( fillings ) are usually inconsistent. Sometimes my orders come with no cheese or minimal cheese. Wish there was more consistency. Service is ok although I have only picked up food. I would eat in the restaurant as is well located in Central San Rafael and place is clean and spacious.

Very tasty pupusas! I ordered chicken and cheese, which were fresh and delicious. Spacious diner atmosphere, family friendly place. The server didn't speak English, so my order was wrong. I got an extra pupusa - not such a bad mistake! I think the sauce could have a little more flavor. It was a bit watery compared to others I have had. We'll be back!

We had La Esperanza cater a lunch for our office. It was delicious. Many people had not tried papusas before and they were quick converts. Even my young children liked them. We also had a wonderful experience with the staff - everyone was so kind and helpful. We'll definitely be going back soon.
