I had the sweetbreads which were chewy, tasted old, and smothered in a sauce that made it edible. Service was very slow. Not enough servers with skill. Seems like very little training. For what we ordered, very expensive. Two entrees, glass of wine and a cocktail, 2 coffees...$146.00. Won't be back.

The feeling at Chalet Basque is lovely. It's like dining in someone's quaint home. The service was also good. We were disappointed with the food, however. We started with the watercress soup which had a nice consistency, but it was a bit salty. I had the veal piccata, which had a nice sauce, but I found it to be a bit chewy. It should have been “melt in your mouth” tender. My brother ordered the beef bourguignon which was also could have been more tender. We all agreed that the quality of the food did not match the high prices. The prices were comparable to some of the more popular restaurants in San Francisco. Also, the menu included several French dishes, but we were surprised that it didn't include Basque dishes.

Like many years before, we've eaten Easter and Mother's Day brunches here. It's been a few years but returned yesterday for our Easter brunch. My goodness things have changed! Only one brunch item on the menu ($29 omelette). The remaining offerings were dinner-like entrees at exorbitant prices. Ordered the traditional pate we've eaten for years. 2 very small dry slices for $18. No wonder the restaurant was empty but for a few other tables of guests. It's too bad. We won't be returning.

Hands-down best burger in Marin. Cooked to perfection to your preference, Golden brown fries every time served with their staple House soup to dip them fries in... Come on man! Right when you walk in this place you feel like you're back in the prime time. Less than five minutes off the 101, some say it's off the beaten path, but this place is right in my backyard and it truly makes you feel right at home. Cordon Bleu, lamb chops, I just don't know what kind of night it's going to be... the burger it is!

Absolutely delicious Basque food. I love sweetbreads and they were incredible. My wife had the lamb special and it was mouthwateringly tender. The soup of the day was watercress, and we both thought it was really yummy. After all that, we wanted something light for dessert, so we both opted for the mango sorbet. We happened to come on a slow night, which is rare. Usually, reservations are essential. The server, who was also the bartender, was very friendly and helpful. As we were leaving, he was throwing away an empty bottle of Clase Azul teposado tequila. I don't know if you've ever seen one of these, but they're beautiful, and the silver metal top rings like a bell. I said it was a shame to throw it out, and he gave it to me! Recommended.

Excellent food, perfectly cooked, seasoned, and planned.
The best. I’ve known the late Roger Minhondo and his son Patrick since the old Guernica restaurant in Sausalito

Live close to here and it’s been my goto. Service has been going significantly downhill. Not comfortable going to the bar and having a meal as a woman alone anymore. Was told by others that now that the son has taken over, it’s not a place to goto anymore.

Have always loved coming to Chalet Basque and it never dissapoints. However the prices have jumped considerably, $39 for a meager NY Strip steak was over the top, and the wonderful watercress soup tasted, well, watery.

Send dabs and frog legs were the selections of the evening and were absolutely excellent. Steve, our waiter was impeccable. We have been here several times before, and this was our usual experience.
